What foods do you hate?

Ohwhatatuesday, 31 October, 2013 at 08:01 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 73

I discovered I hate chickpeas yesterday. Never had anything with them in before, but they were in a soup I had and it was revolting. I discovered it was the chickpeas. Yuk. I'm not a fussy eater so my list of food hates is chickpeas and anchovies (i can probably confidently add hummus now too). Mr DCM however hates lots of things&lots that i love so can't understand - most veg, esp cauliflower, mushrooms, cream, anything sweet, strawberries.

Just wondered, what foods do you hate?

My H is THE fussiest eater- it drives me absolutely bonkers!

I don't like mackerel and similar types of fish, parsnips, and I'm not really a fan of blue cheese but I could eat it. I think that's it.

Fish (unless it is from the chippy), tomatoes, liver, kidneys, sprouts, runner beans.

My H likes everything apart from fruit.

Peas, anything with a aniseedy taste, sprouts, blue or mature cheese, tomatoes that have been grilled, cooked peppers

But I also like a few things that a lot of people don't, like liver, kidneys and olives so I think that balances it out!

I hate okra. And badly-prepared aubergine. But can't think of anything else. I'd prefer not to have a few other bits but wouldn't reject them at a dinner party.

    I like meat/fish but I don't eat it. I can't eat tofu/soya.

    The list is endless but.........
bananas, oranges, cucumber, cloves, boiled carrots, duck, goose, baked beans, dried fruit, I could go on.
Im not known as a picky eater in my family. My sister is 100 times worse. Its a texture thing.

Liver, kidneys, some fish, olives, pork (joint or chops just taste dirty but ham, bacon etc are fine), parsley, celery.

I'm sure there's probably a few more that I can't think of. Generally I'm not a fussy eater, I eat all veg etc.

THIS!!! Okra is evil. I love aubergine but even i only get it right half the time so don't bother eating it because when it's bad it's awful.

Also have a love/ hate relationship with tomatoes. Sometimes even the sight of someone chopping them makes me faint, other times I can eat the baby ones like sweets.

I don't like cold sardines, and I hate the texture of bananas.

Mozzarella makes me sick, as does whipped cream.

Hmmm sounds like I'm fussier than I thought lol

How did I forget bananas, pineapple and passion fruit!

Also don't like raisins in cakes but can eat them on their own. But I hate sultanas in any form.

    Hmm fussier than I thought

I don't like raisins, sultanas, mixed peel, green peppers, broccoli, cauliflower (unless in cheese sauce) salmon and cream.

I go through phases with mushrooms; sometimes I can eat them, other times I can't.

I bet I have the longest list!

The worst ones that spring to mind are:

    Tuna

    Mayo

    Sweetcorn

    Mushrooms

Any fish, sardines and pilchards being my ultimate worst.

    Gherkins

    Black pudding

    Any offal

    Parsnips

    Sprouts

    Smelly cheese

    I could go on forever...

I will try most things. I dont like raw tomatoes, never have, but i am trying to learn to like them. I love them cooked, sun dried etc, just the raw ones i cant stand.

I dont like oysters. I really wanted to! I like pretty much all over seafood but oysters were just the tipping point.

Not a fan of liver, but will eat it in pate etc.

I'm not fussy really - I eat most stuff.

    I don't like:

Pork - Mainly pork roast, pork chops, gammon - I can eat sausages & bacon as long as I have not had to be there while they are being cooked as it's the smell that makes me feel sick

Asparagus - makes my p*** stink

    Okra - Bleugh!!!

    Shortcrust pastry

    Liver

    Kidney

    Blue Cheese

There are also some foods which I won't even try because they look revolting. These include tripe, oysters, mussels. I also cannot get my head around hot tuna, not steaks, tinned tuna in a hot pannini or on a jacket potato.

    Okra is vile.

    Sharon fruit also..

I used to hate Aubergine, but now I'm almost converted.

    Olives are dreadful too

Other than that providing it's vegan, I'm happy ?

I don't think of myself as a fussy eater, but when I think about it there is quite a lot of food I don't like!

    Parsnips

    Olives

Beans - Baked beans/kidney beans/cannelloni beans etc - it is the texture!

    Lettuce

    Nuts

    Salmon

    Blue Cheese

    Liquorice

    Marzipan

Raw bananas - like them in cakes or as a flavouring though - again it is the texture!

    Marmite

    Dried fruit other than raisins/sultanas

I will always try something before saying I don't like it though!

I would have agreed in oysters until I had tempura oysters at Rick Stein's restaurant. They were the bomb! Completely changed the texture, it became sort of like a firm pate or mushroom

I feel a bit special as I had to google what okra is! Lol. I don't think I've ever had it.

I also hate marzipan and fruit cake. Not really a fan of raisins at all actually but I love maltloaf which is a bit weird.

Also really hate peanut butter. OH will sometimes kiss me after he's eaten it just to wind me up ?

There is hardly anything I dislike enough to turn it down at a dinner party. I'm an extremely unfussy eater.

I check for mustard but only because I'm allergic.

If I was choosing for myself I'd avoid artichokes, cauliflower, gherkins, lychees and anything liquorice or aniseed flavoured.

The only thing I would refuse to eat (or try if it was a new food) if it was put in front of me is banana.

Anything else I would probably just eat, even if I wouldn’t choose it for myself.

Meat. I have no major ethical problems with eating meat but I just can't stomach the taste/texture of any meat or fish.

I'm pretty funny about onions too. They're ok if they are chopped up small in a sauce but giant chunks freak me out.
