What has made you laugh or smile this week?

Lillythepink, 1 July, 2009 at 08:37 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 29

1) Boris Becker's pronunciation of the word "wimbledon"

2) WTP's imitation of the above.

So what good news for you? What silliness? What japes?

    1) My cat being absolutely terrified of my hairbrush - he literally jumps in the air 2 feet if I even set it down on the bed

    2) me seeing some kids in a school playfield doing "jousting" and thinking it was quite a novel sport for school kids - H correcting me to say its "javelin" ?

    1. Top Gear on Sunday - the whole 'trying to sneak in at 3 am when you're 17' thing really made me laugh ?

    2. Watching our cat trying to figure out what the ice cubes in his water bowl were ?

(This one will only make sense to people who've been watching this series of Family Guy)

My two-year-old nephew, carefully nibbling round the edge of a jam tart, was bumped by his sister and his cake fell onto the floor. With impeccable 'Stewie' accent his immediately cried 'It's rueeened! My cake is ru-eeeeened!'

My reaction to the OH telling me I had a caterpillar on my head on Sunday made us both cry with laughter for a bit. It was a leaf and I wasn't, in any way, brave.

Yesterday and this morning Pod is the cause of my smiling.

    2. My sponsored boy here in Tanzania made be a book about aeroplanes and space shuttles

    3. My friend has been sending me lovely texts and e-mails as I have an important job interview today.

MissSun twisting her daddy round her finger telling him she wanted a 'hooly hoop' and him saying 'yes darling' and buying her one and then her saying 'daddy, I want a puppy to jump through my hooly hoop' ?

Chooks, and the thought of her with a caterpillar on her head ?

My H did a hilarious transformer impression the other day, think you had to be there though. It had me laughing for ages!

    1) training our cat to wear a harness. She walked sidewise for about the first 10 minutes.

    2) My walking into our patio window when the door next to it was actually open. ? This happened last week so technically doesn't count, but it seriously made me laugh...that is until the adrenaline stopped and the pain kicked in, boy did I have cracker of a headache that day!

Thats brilliant! Were always saying it too but im pretty sure its nowhere near as funny coming from us! 'ohhhh noooooooo' in the style of the very camp oreo's man (i hope you know who I mean 'only a couple of oreos gone, Ima feed the rest to the catz') is another favourite at the minute.

Anyway, I was in a bar with my OH yesterday and we needed to speak to his mum. he called her at work but all of a sudden put on a very stupid voice and said 'i found your number on google, i want to buy a bed' .....pause....'oh no...... but im very tired'

I very nearly wet myself. she later complained about 'some stupid p1ss head wanting to go to sleep'

Top Gear made us cackle too. ?

My H rolling up his trouser legs to get into the paddling pool.

And hearing some kids being loud outside out backgarden at midnight and getting annoyed. Only for them all to scarper because someone's Dad chronically embarrassed them by shouting "You said you'd be back half an hour ago" ?

And now you have all made me laugh.

Stewie is very very funny. I'm too scared to let my kids watch it though, in case they decide they need to keeeel me.

My 3yo son has spent the whole week refering to himself as Mr Strong and his 18mo sister as Mr Messy. It's been genuinely hilarious- "Mummy, i'd like to introduce you to my new friend, Mr Messy. Mr Messsy has done a wee"- although possibly in a way that only amuses me.

Watching Flight of the Conchords, as ever.

Making my husband do an elaborate blind tasting to compare our normal gin and vodka with the gin and vodka a friend of ours has just started producing (www.sipsmith.com - they have the first distiller's licence in London for 200 years. Is really fascinating and also yummy drinks).

I came on here to say Flight of the Conchords but KN beat me to it. The hair gel was brilliant.

Also, Rache tweeting about MJ's autopsy. Apparently they'd ruled out sunshine and moonlight, and good times looked unlikely, but were investigating the boogie.

(old joke, I know but I laughed)

    1. My tattoo artist always cracks me up, today she had me in stitches with tales of what men have offered her money to do

    2. www.failblog.org (but that makes me laugh every week)

    3. OH coming home from work yesterday, offering to take me out for a meal, then falling asleep face down on the dining room floor while I straightened my hair. We didn't go out in the end.

    ps LOVE Family Guy!

My co-caterer at this festival I am doing this weekend expounding his theories about 'pictures of farmers' on Tesco chicken, and relentlessly taking the piss for my pseudo-hippy credentials.

Family Guy is brilliant - this doesn't really count but last weekend's episode with Stewie and the cast of Star Trek the Next Generation had me in fits (esp Will WHeaton - only makes sense like the Cool WHip thing if you know the show...)

    This week I've laughed at:

Carrie on the Chris Moyles show this morning shouting random things in the middle of her ex-boyfriend's piece on BBC Breakfast news.

Our daughter inventing a "naked dance" and now a song to go with it.

Getting a request from the admin of the RSC's flickr group to add a photo of my LEGO Hamlet to their group.

Being unable to get my youngest daughter out of the bath today. Although to be fair it was outside in the garden and look suspiciously like a paddling pool warmed up with a couple of kettles and bubble bath thrown in. Everytime I asked her to get out she shouted "NO! 'immin' " and carried on.

Sitting in my classroom after school with my friend and rapping "Ice Ice Baby" to him - he was laughing so much he put his head down on the table and then the cleaner came in and obviously thought he was having some kind of breakdown.

I had one of those awful moments today when you;re not supposed to laugh...and I did.

One lovely young lady told me today that her neighbour hood is really friendly, and one of her relatives organises activities for the kids, like sex parties.

I wasn't sure I'd heard right at first, then I caught my mates eye and just couldn't stop myself. I am a bad bad person. I should have been worried about child protection and not asking leading questions and I just laughed. As i thought she didn't mean sex parties but parties for the girls and other parties for the boys (same sex parties)
