What have you done with your wedding shoes?

haagweg, 27 May, 2008 at 13:31 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 38

I haven't worn mine since the big day all those years ago.

Now I fancy wearing them but maybe dye them black? Has anyone done that and how? It seems a waste because no one else is going to fit them as they are too small.

Mine were dyed gold to match my wedding dress, and a couple of weeks ago I got them dyed chocolate brown to match a bridesmaids dress for my friend's wedding. I didn't touch them in between (3.5 years) ?

I got them dyed through my dress shop. It cost about 25 quid.

Mine were sparkly strappy ones so I could wear them again but I haven't. I had some pink glittery court shoes that I wore for the evening which are also wrapped up in a box.?

Same here. I had Roland Cartier silver strappy sandals but haven't worn them since. I just don't have much to wear them with. I'm sure they'll get another outing at some point.

Mine are in a box in my wardrobe. They were gold sparkly numbers that I can't really see myself wearing again. I'll keep them though, just in case.

Dress shop - that's an idea, maybe I'll ask. I was hoping I wouldn't have to step into a wedding shop again though ?

I had mine made to order as I have titchy feet. I can't even remember what they really look like now.

Can you dye them if they have sparkly bits in them?

I put mine in the bin after the reception ?

They were pretty cheap and satin effect and got grass stained so not worth me keeping them and dyeing them or anything

Mine were lace up satin boots. Not sure what to do with them, don't think I would ever wear them again even if I got them dyed.

They are lying in a suitcase along with my still manky dress.

Mine are in a box in the wardrobe. I haven't worn them since (2.5yrs ago).

They are lovely, but are white with coloured sequin things on the toe. Someone on here dubbed them the 'Hundreds and Thousands' shoes!?

I'd love to wear them again, but not sure I will. Won't ever get rid of them though!

I got mine dyed so I could wear them again. I got around to it in time to weear them to a friends wedding. They won't get worn much but it'll be more than my wedding dress! ?

I took them to the shop I got my dress from. They sent them off, cost £25, took about a week and they did a fab job.

I wear both of mine regularly.

One is a pair of high-heeled strappy silver sandals from Nine-West that cost me $10 in the sale - a bargain. They are perfect with a little black dress for a night out.

The others are 4" silver sparkly thong wedges ($30 from Rocket Dog), which look great with 3/4 length jeans for going out in the summer.

I specifically went with silver rather than white as I knew I could wear them again.

I still wear mine - they were a rather nice pair of white leather shoes with black heels (my dress was black and white) and so extremely wearable afterwards.

You can probably get them dyed, although it will depend what brand they are (most of the 'bridal' brands like Rainbow Club, Meadows, Pink by Paradox etc) are fine for dying. Some of the high st brands don't dye well.

The company we use for dying is great, and you can send your shoes off to them direct www.barbaran.co.uk - they will advise on whether your shoes are suitable as well.

I sold mine on fleabay straight after the wedding as they were like new and too wedding-y to do anything with. IIRC I think I got about half what I paid for them and was pleased with that. I made sure that the photographer took loads of photgraphs of them though.

My dress on the other hand is still waiting to be cleaned (4 years on - I am a tramp) and at my Mums house.

I keep meaning to get mine dyed but it's been 18 months now so I don't think I'll ever get round to it.

I was also going to get my train made into a christening outfit for my son and my dress dyed black so it could be an evening dress type thing but I haven't done that either.?

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately my shoes were made to order so I'd have to dig out the maker and probably ask them if it's suitable. Also on your link it says that the satin should be ivory and not white. I wonder why?? I can't remember which my shoes were.

They're in my wardrobe. They are a creamy gold colour and I'm planning to wear them to a wedding later this year (I have a brown and cream dress I've got my eye on) as I think with a goldy coloured wrap they will look rather lovely and not 'my wedding shoes' at all/

They are my 4yr old Daughter's Clip Clop dressing up shoes - This Month they are Enchanted shoes, last month they were Sharpay's shoes.

Must say Manola Blahnik's are child proof.

DSH - that link is really useful - thanks! My wedding shoes have been in a box in the bottom of the wardrobe for the last 10 years but I think I might look into dyeing them if I can just decide what colour! ?

    I had two pairs.

One was a cheapie pair with heels from BHS. They went in the bin as they were grass stained and the diamontes fell off.

The other pair were about 50 quid, they are currently on sale on ebay! They are flat but very pretty. I won't wear them again.

I had 2 official pairs, and one pair of normal flip flops

one were mega sparkly high heels, which I wore for one photo and then had to take off since I was banned from wearing heels. They went on ebay since I've been banned from ever wearing high heels

and one were little slip on kitten heels which I wore for the ceremony, they're in a box in the bedroom and I hope I'll be allowed to wear the again one day

and my flip flops were just my normal ones, I figured no-one would see them under the dress, and it was better than barefoot

J's still got his and wears them a lot - they're trainers

Mine weren't anything special - just some ivory coloured Rainbows. I always meant to have them dyed as they were really comfy and I can't ever bear to throw anything out. But they are in the wardrobe somewhere, along with my skirt and bodice .... they need a good clean I'm sure ... they've only been there about 6 years. Do you think I'll ever get round to it?!!

Mine are in the loft along with my skanky wedding dress that needs cleaning(it pissed it down on the day) I loved my shoes, a pair of Rainbow Clubs with diamonte on the front. They are filthy, if they were clean I would have them re-dyed so I could wear them, they were really comfy !

Mine are sitting in a box in the loft, along with my dress. I did intend to get them dyed but just never got around to it. I'll probably end up giving them to my daughter to play dress up with.

Mine are in a box at my parents' house (2 years after the wedding) but I must get round to getting them dyed a different colour! If nothing else I think they'd be good to wear to my dancing class (Ceroc).
