What (if anything) are you doing for the Royal Wedding?

Mrs Bass, 13 April, 2011 at 08:52 Posted on Planning 0 27

It hadnt really crossed my mind but OH's band have been asked to play at our mates street party so im going to tag along to that. im actually quite excited as Ive never been to a street party b4! im going to feel like a bit of a rebel sat in the middle of the road drinking! :-)

I have a couple of friends who are going to watch it at home whilst wearing hats and drinking champagne and my Mum and her friend are going to town as they want to see her in her dress and see the newsly married couple. I have warned her that not only a large majority of England but also the world will have the same plan and she needs to go a week b4 with a tent to reserve a space!

So I just wondered what you fellow Hitchers will be doing? I know some of you are date twins and some will be getting married the next day and there for you'll probably be preocupied, but for everyone else, will you be watching to see what flowers she is carring and what colour the bridesmaids are in, will you be at some kind of party or do you just not give two hoots?!

I've not made any plans so far and don't know of any local street parties. My OH hates Prince William too so I doubt he will want to watch so I will probably just watch at my future MIL's house Smiley laugh (my own mummy lives 70 miles away)

I live in a row of 4 cottages (with another one opposite) down a muddy track, so we are having a "muddy track party" (like a street party only muckier!) on our front lawns - which are large and open and very party-friendly. Think we'll get the person with the biggest telly to put it, outward facing, on their windowsill so we can watch it all unfold.

    And light up the barbie!

Well its also my little girls 6th birthday so we are having a tea party with a vintage tea set, cake and finger sandwiches and my mum and sisters are coming down from scotland, then later it will be jessica's actual party (tea shirt decorating party).

I would love to go to a street party but sadly I don't think there's any going on around here - so for the actual event I will probably be sat at home watching it with my sister and my 3 year old nephew! However later on we're going into town for some good old morris dancing and the bun throwing. Never been to a bun throwing before so am quite excited!

I'm having people over to watch it on tv, i've bought some bunting and flags, and we'll have red white and blue cupcakes, scones, cucumber sandwiches and pimms. Hopefully the weather will be nice and we can be out in the garden. I really want to get the royal family face masks too, cos i want to be the queen! lol Not sure i can justify the expenses though

I suspect I'll be on my own at home - OH not interested. I think I'll put on my comfiest PJs, make myself a bacon sandwich and just laze around watching it. Work is so busy for me at the moment I'm more excited about the day off than the actual event.

I will be putting on chair covers, tying bows, attaching flowers & pearls to candelabras.

Arranging flowers on pedestals in the Abbey, then back to the Palace to lay up the tables for the Wedding Breakfast ensuring all place cards are in the right places, putting the Corgi shaped Cookie favours on each place setting.

Polishing the Crystal toasting flutes for the Bride & Groom (complete with Faces etched into them)

Blowing up Red White & Blue balloons & attaching Union Jack Bunting to the Pillars.

Putting the cake server next to the cake a life sized model of the Happy Couple.

Then if I have time in between will take the corgis for a walk as instructed by her Majesty.

No I will be having a BBQ & watching hopefully in the sunshine!

It's my make up trial and Hen Night on this day. I will however be watching the Royal Wedding no doubt at some point and may even open the bottle of Moet early instead of waiting for my ladies to arrive ?

I may have a little sneek peak of the wedding just to see her dress. Only plans I have made are to gut the front garden and re-vamp it as flat on market at the moment so think it could help as a selling point if I have a nice front garden ?

Ha ha Sherrie - how cool would that be though!! Our street has been given the licence for a street party so will be closing our road (despite the fact it's a cul de sac anyway lol) and have just had the plan for the day put through the door! We will be having several BBQs going, big buffet tables, a bouncy castle, and there are loads of games organised too, some of them are; tug of war, egg and spoon race, three legged race, treasure hunt, fancy dress competition (kings, queens etc or red White and blue), face painting mostly all for the kids but am sure some adults will get involved too! Oh and a big marquee and DJ. We've only lived in our street for a year so will be really nice to be involved with everyone and there kids. Plus we've never been to a street party before! Personally I'm looking forward to seeing all of it but especially Kates dress and all the little details like flowers etc but prob because I've got the wedding bug!! Xx

I wante a Royal Wedding/house warming party in mine and OH's 1st house but doesn't look likely we'll be in by then so will probably watch it on my own at home, maybe with my mum as no one else seems to be interested! Will be waving my flag I bought though!!

Cannot wait to see her dress, I bet she'll look lovely!!

Wow everyone has got some great plans!!

I love the idea of a muddy track party, that could turn out to be interesting after a few drinks!

Sherrie you crack me up, but I think it was wise of you to decline their offer inorder to have a well deserved day off! ?

i kind think the whole cereomny might get a bit boring so like most of you I might watcch the beginning to see the outfits of everyone arriving and of course Kate's then head out to enjoy the party!!

the talk of cupcakes has inspired me to make some for the day too!

As many of you have said, it's going to be nice to have an extra day off! fingers crossed for nice weather now then!!

Soooooooooooo not fussed about it but the people around me are.

OH is away on a stag do (not his) so my two BMs are coming to mine. I am making scones and we will drink tea, whilst making bunting for my wedding and watching. Should be fun.

I honestly wouldn't watch it but BMs really want to and I don't really care either way"

Though should catch a glimpse of it on the TV. Only want to see the dress/ ceremony really.

No actual plans but hoping to catch a bit on the box. I think maybe if the weather forecast looks ok then maybe a BBQ in the garden with the children.
