What is the last complement you received?

Erin8, 17 January, 2014 at 19:36 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 33

What was the last complement you received? I was told by the receptionist at work today that l don't look old enough to be a qualified nurse. Quite funny and flattering as l am 34 in a few weeks and look rather rough today!

My 10 year old said I was "the most awesomest, coolest Mum ever". Always nice to hear.

I hate compliments- they make me really awkward.

A colleague told me my hair looked nice today. I told her it looked crap.

Mini, I am the same, even when my H compliments me. "eugh, whatever" or "yeah, thanks" are my stock responses.

I am fine when C compliments me though. I compliment him back, then we high five.

That's cute. Kids don't compliment because it's the polite thing to do- they compliment you because they mean it. Grown ups sometimes say things because they think they should.

I was on a course today and the instructor said that my final exam scenario (it was a resus course with a practical exam) was the best they'd seen that day. *medicgeek*

Was on a site visit today at work and a guy said "looks like you lost weight, you look good" (Which was a surprise considering the last time I saw him was about 2 year ago in court taking a case against him ha)

I had my hair cut and coloured last weekend so I had an influx of compliments on Monday about that. All have been totally forgotten now that my best friend has told me I should go back to my previous colour for the wedding. What's wrong with it?? Meh!

That I should have more confidence in myself as I am (apparently) really good at my job.

I almost cried because I don't feel that way.

I was told a piece of work I did was spot on. Compliments make me cringe. Mainly because I think people are lying. I'm also good at turning them around (today's piece of work being spot on means all of my other works wasn't, if someone says I look nice today I assume I must look awful on other days etc). Whenever Mr DCM gives me a compliment I just pull a face and stick my tongue out at him. I don't know why I can't just say 'thanks'.

ETA - thinking about it, online compliments (facebook, email, forums etc or even text messages) don't make me cringe. I'm not sure why...maybe because there's less pressure for me to react in a certain way?

This morning I was told that I was the worlds best girlfriend and he felt really lucky to have me. All I did was buy him a Jedi robe dressing gown. He is so easily pleased!

Other than that a customer told me I have beautiful hair, funny considering it hadn't been washed and was in a messy braid for work! I'm another one who isn't very good at accepting compliments. I always feel like it is just a social dance and I have to hastily find a way to return the compliment without it sounding insincere!

It's been a good time for compliments for me. My Head told my year 11s that I am 'very organised', which was nice, and then one of my class told me my lesson was the highlight of his timetable. I nearly cried!

I've had compliments on my weight loss over the last couple of weeks, and that it is noticeable.

This made me feel great, cos I do actually have rather a lot of weight to lose, so it's nice to know it's being noticed already.

Today on the way to the studios a guy with leaflets held one up and said "Is that you?" and it was a model with red hair for some hairdresser place I think..not a compliment really but she was nice n pretty so I suppose in a way it was haha.

I also hate receiving compliments and get really awkward and don't know what to say, sort of shuffled on laughing awkwardly..was glad OH & my brothers were there as for some reason i'd have been more embarrassed if I was myself haha.

I get complimented on my hair a lot, and my clothes/outfit/accessories. It's really nice, though sometimes I wonder if people say things because they think they should or just because they're looking for something to say.

one compliment that will stick with me and makes me go all shy is when I met The London Otters in December and Pompey said 'she is as pretty as in her pictures' which I thought was lovely and made me feel very good about myself. Thanks P! Xx

i make the effort to accept compliments nowadays, people don't have to say something nice, so I like to show appreciation for the effort they make.

i have had lots of 'well done you deserve it' about my new job this week which is lovely.

I dont think people compliment enough through fear of people ridiculed them or being offended..I love to compliment when its justified!! I was complimented yesterday by some hitchers after posting a faceyb pic of before an after pics of my hair being curled with my new super duper toy..the comments of lost weight were marvellous, personally i dont see it but its good others notice!

The receptionist at work today told me she liked my earrings, I was quite pleased with that one as people rarely notice little details like that
