What is this wedding dress?

19JB87, 10 March, 2012 at 21:50 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi All!

I've just been browsing around wedding dresses, trying to find something I like. My problem is, I'm quite fussy! I'm not a dressy person, so I don't want anything too sparkly/frilly or anything. I want something pleated, with a bit of shape.

So - I've found this, which I think is beautiful:

However, from reading your very helpful posts on here - it would suggest that I should stay away from this company (weddingdressonlineshop.co.uk)?

People seem to suggest that they take originals and copy them?

My question is - what would the original of this dress be?

Or if anyone knows of anything similar, can you let me know?

I love this dress - But am wary of the comments people have made about the company ☹️

Any help would be great, thanks!!

J x

It looks quite similar to Tasarla by Maggie Sottero.

    Hmmm! It does, doesn't it!

Is it weird that I actually prefer the copy? ? The flowers seem bigger & I prefer the pleats.

Thanks so much! How did you know where to look for that!

I seem to be spending ages looking at dresses, but not really getting anywhere!

This is the first one I've liked, because of the big pleats.

I searched using google images and came across a post that mentioned maggie sottero. So I then went to the maggie site and there it was!

I spent hours trawling through websites looking at dresses and in the end picked one that I'd ruled out from the start! I know its difficult but I'd suggest to stop looking at dresses online and go into a shop! Wedding dress shops usually stock a few designers so there is always plenty to choose from and you may find that some designers dresses fit better than others.

From googling it appears that it's by a designer called Demetrios (not heard of this one though but seems reputable as lists bridal store stockists etc)

    This is their site /

Only I can't seem to find that dress on there, think it may be a 2011 dress and 2012 collection is out now!

Sorry can't be of any more help!

Aw, bless you all - thank you for your wonderful replys.

You're right - I'm finding this really difficult just looking at photos, but I'm not ready to go and look in a shop, yet. Don't ask me why - I know I wouldn't buy anything yet and I get put off by that thought! I think I need a bit more time just looking around at photos of other people's dresses and try to get some idea of what I like and what I don't.

I've found this, actually - And I adore it!

(Though I hope I'd look more happy than the model when wearing it!)

First of all - why DO all the models always look so miserable????!! That is a gorgeous dress but honestly, looking at photos might give you ideas of what you like but you'll probably end up liking very different things in person. I kept picking dresses that looked like ones I liked in photos but none of them suited me. I was so intent on having lace and cap sleeves but it all looked too much on me. The dress I picked is so me and I love it but not alot like the ones I thought I would pick!

I also went for something totally opposite to what I wanted originally.

I had my heart set on a lacy Maggie but found the shop which stocked them rude and unhelpful and so went elsewhere where I fell in love with a big chiffon, glittery strappless blinger and I STILL cringe looking at it on the hanger but fall in love with it all over again when I put it on?

It is a Phil Collins one but having difficulty finding the right one as I don't know the name. It is a dropped waist with lots and lots of bling on the bodice and a really long trail. Still mooching for a pic as i don't have one of me in it on my comp.

My prefered one from looking online was Grace Kelly or Bernadette by Maggie Sotterro so total opposites!

You really need to go and try dresses on. They look very different in real life and you'll probably find what you think you like turns out to be the opposite! It can be a bit nerve wracking at first but actually it's fun!
