Do you ever use it? Do you like it? Mine is Michelle. TBH I have no feelings about it either way. However, I am hopeful of some corkers on this thread ?

Mine's Alice and I do use it. If I ever have to fill my name in on anything I always put both first and second names, or if not then use the initial. I've always found it confusing on baby name threads when people say it doesn't matter about the middle name because it's never used - my mum always uses both my sister's and my full names on anything written (thinking birthday cards etc). I'm wondering if its because she doesn't have one and has always said she wished she did.

H's middle name is Richard and he also uses either the name or initial most of the time.

My middle name is Victoria and to be honest I don’t really give it much thought. My dad wanted it as my first name but my mum much preferred to give me the same name as the 5 other babies girls that were born on the same ward. Thanks mum. There were seven of us in my year at school!

Mine is Jayne. I don't introduce myself as Melanie Jayne, but I wouldn't say I don't use it. I always put it in on forms, etc.. Dad hated my name to be shortened to Mel, but on the odd occasion he shortened it he would always add my middle name. To Dad I was always either Melanie or Mel Jayne. Never just Mel.

I wasn't actually going to have one. Dad always hated his (Dennis) and Mum was gifted with the moniker Jean Margaret Ann. Her three brothers also have long names. Apparently, my grandparents would chose a first and middle name, then grandad would go down to register the birth and add another one in! ? So the 'rents decided not to bother with me. Then my godfather, a solicitor, said they ought to give me one, "even if you just choose plain old Jane," as it looks better on official documentation. They went with his suggestion, but added the 'Y' to make it less plain! My niece is Philippa Jayne and my sister (who I thought had the middle name Leanne until about 3 months ago when I found out she doesn't actually have one - Leanne was what Mum wanted to give her) tells me the Jayne part is after me.

H's middle name is Jared, which I love but he hates. He thinks people hear it and immediately think of Toadfish from Neighbours (the character's actual name is apparently Jared Rebecchi) but I have yet to meet someone who doesn't think of Jared Leto first. In fact, most people I've discussed it with don't even know Toadfish's name is Jared! None of our friends knew H's middle name til our wedding, when he had to say his full name in the vows.

We were just talking about this the other day when J was up North! My friend thinks S has a wicked name, she said he sounds cool, like a guitarist in a rock band - and J was stunned by how accurate she was! I think it's cool too ?

I too am a Jayne. I consider it the Norf Lahdun spelling.

I use it as often as possible and really like it. My maiden name is also now officially a middle name too, so I'm level pegging with Mr S, although interestingly we never really considered more than one middle name for the kids - maybe next time ?

My middle name is Samantha. Its ok. I don't really use it that much. My children don't have middle names as my H thinks they are pointless. This is because he hate his middle name. His older brother chose Trevor as his middle name.

    I'm a Victoria.

I've used it in the past, and an ex used to call me Vicky, but I tend not to give it a second thought

Mine is Louise which I never use - i have met a number of particularly foul Louises and so it reminds me of them. it is also my H ex wifes middle name and so that makes me like it even less.

Mine are Lucy Clover. I like them and will use them on forms etc, but they're not used day-to-day. The only annoying thing about having two is that they don't always fit on paperwork/documents.

I don't have one, but my first husband had the corkers, Guy Alexis, along with his very unusual first name, made him sound like the nobber that he is.

My Mum and Dad couldn't decide on mine until after my birth was registered, so although I have one, it's not o n my birth certificate. Anyway, it's Charlotte, which I like. My sister's middle name is Amabel (my Gran is called Mabel).

Mr W has a corker. Everyone laughed at our wedding when the registrar said his name. It's Jobriath. ?

Mine's Sian - so Rachael Sian. I do like it, I think it's because when I think of my name I think of it embroidered on my massive christmas stocking by my mum ?

H's name is Christopher Noel Alexander. He calls himself Chris. His initials on official documents vary between one, two and three - annoying for ID purposes! but he has a weird hyphenated surname (as i do, now, of course) so i think it's always been a pain in the arse for him.

I think if we had a son we'd call him Theodore, or Theo. There would be middle name(s), mostly because I like mine ?

I don't have one, and still wish I did. Still, my initials were SD so there could have been some potentially embarrassing combinations if I had had one.

Because I missed out my children will all be getting middle names.

That is so weird!!! I've been reading through this thread thinking 'I can't believe Elizabeth hasn't come up yet!'. Mine's Elizabeth and I really like it. My mum wanted to be called Elizabeth her whole life so gave it to me as a middle name. My Dad chose my first name.

My OH's sister's middle names are Angharad Maeve...I think that's blummin gorgeous!!

Sorry, but to me the name Jared is the guy from the Subway ads - he lost 200lbs by eating nothing but Subway sandwiches. Maybe they don't have that ad in the UK...

That's such a pretty name. <Adds to baby name list

My middle name is Claire. I much prefer it to my first name, but never had the guts to use it really. I've always thought my mum would be hurt that I didn't like my first name as much, so just put up with it (not that it's a dreadful name, I just think it's a bit 1960s for some reason).

I started life as Sarah-Louise (was called Sarah-lou through most of my childhood), over the years Louise has become a middle name. I now only use my full name on official documents.

I have a friend whose middle name is Smillie (family surname) i've always thought that would be a lovely middle name to have. Well, better than my Mum whose middle name is Oates!
