Do you ever use it? Do you like it? Mine is Michelle. TBH I have no feelings about it either way. However, I am hopeful of some corkers on this thread ?

Mines Jayne too (and another one from Yorkshire).

I love my first name and middle name together but don't like my first name on it's own (Laura).

My whole name fits together nicely.

Mine is Ann, which is ok and goes well enough with my first name but there's no particular reason for my mum choosing it, she just thought it up on the spot ? It's the least "exotic" middle name of my family though - brothers have Scottish family names which are more meaningful imho.

Mine is Joleen! Named after Dolly Partons song (my dad spelt it wrong on my birth certificate!) I don't tell people it very often

My H has a great one Wingfield which made me laugh on our wedding day! Apparently if we have a little boy it will be their middle name as well.

Mine's Daisy, after my great grandmother. I used to hate it but quite like it now, at least it's more unusual than my first name (Sarah) which every other girl at school was called.

I don't use it that often, even on forms I just tend to put first name surname. Don't know why...I guess I quite like that not that many people know it.

When I was about 8 I made up that I had another middle name - Miranda. I used it for years; I still have friends who think my name is Sarah Daisy Miranda. What a mouthful!

I'd love a really meaningful name (my 1st name is unusual though I guess) my middle name is Marie (I actually hate it, the bully at school was called Marie).

Maryline Pierrrette is such a pretty name.

I don't have a middle name and neither does H. Mine was supposed to be Louise but my parents "forgot" to do it. Neither of them have middle names either. I've always felt a bit deprived!

Mine is Victoria, which makes me Emma Victoria. I have no feelings about it really. I was one of two Emma Victorias in my class at school. Everyone else had Louise or Jane.

My sisters is Jayne and Im considering it for our next child if its a girl

My elder brother is Robert Julian--he hates it!

Mine is Elizabeth too, and I am also surprised that there aren't more Elizabeth's on the thread. I much prefer Elizabeth - or at least some of the derivitives - to my first name.

I have two middle names, Diana Jane. I hated my whole name when I was at school (first name Elizabeth) because everyone assumed I was really posh! I have learnt to love my first name now and am quite proud of my middle names now I can appreciate what they meant to my parents.

I'm Louise, i use the initial when signing things and will be keeping my maiden name as a middle name when i get married in 4 weeks. My OH's is McPherson which is a family name.

We'll probably give our kids either my maiden name to the girls and McPherson to the boys if we have them.

My gran had 2 family names and her maiden name as her middle names... She was M.. cunningham Harvey Walker B....

Ooh I think Arlette is very pretty, I've never heard of it before.

Mine is Fiona. I hated it as a child but I don't mind it now. I would have been a Fiona if my dad had had his way but my mum won and I was called the same name as every other blimmin' child born in the early seventies ?

I remember the one thing I liked about Fiona when I was growing up was at least it wasn't louise. all my friends seemed to have Louise as their middle name. Nothing wrong with the name but literally everyone seemed to be something Louise.

My daughter's middle name is Florence which I love (family name) and my husband's is Huw. His parents aren't welsh so have no idea whatsoever why it's that spelling.

I remember laughing with him and saying if we'd both been called by our middle names we'd have sounded well posh at our wedding (Fiona and Huw)

Middle names are quite hard to choose I think. I'm struggling to find one I like that goes with our imminent second child's first name.

Mine is Elizabeth, which in itself I don't mind at all. However, with my first name, it makes me sound far too regal. You wouldn't think my mum was totally anti-monarchy would you!? ?

A lot of girls at my school had Louise as a middle name.

Mine is also Elizabeth - I prefer it to my first name - I also love the idea that you can have many different forms of Elizabeth such as Lizzy, Beth, Liz, Elize etc. My sister's is Alison.

At my graduation ceremony, more than half the females had middle names of Elizabeth - it seems common amongst my generation - late 30s women!!?

Mine is Rachel. I use my initials daily and my mom insists on full names on Birthday cards.

My daughter's middle name is Frances which is a family name on both sides.

I have used my middle name as my first name for as long as I can remember, probably from the age of 6 or 7.

My mum and dad had 7 children together and we all have Pakistani first names. Mum always used to call us our English names and dad our Pakistani ones.

Mum was around more often than dad so we have always used our English names. that sounds a bit jumbled but I hope it makes sense ?

Mines Kathleen and midddle sisters is Bridget, both Grandmothers names. Youngest sister is Francis, a family name (can never remember the female spelling, thats prob wrong)

    MrHs is John.

If I have children I won't be doing grandmothers names as I dislike both of them (as names?) one is very 1950s and one is Ann. I think we'll just do a second favorite name type thing.

    Mine is Helen.

I used it a lot before I married as my first name and Surname both began with the same letter (R) and I hated the alliterativeness.

Louise. Claire Louise. Dull, dull, dullity-dull. And the same as 6 other girls in my year at school. I changed the spelling to Clair, just to have some sort of difference from the rest.

My sister didn't do much better. Laura Anne. At least there were only about 3 other Laura Annes in her year... the rest were Laura Jaynes ? Oh yeah, and thanks to my example she now spells it Lora (sorry Mum).

OH is Michael David. He was supposed to be David Michael, but FIL (also Michael) 'made a mistake' when he registered him (MIL was still in hospital). To this day he won't admit he did it on purpose.

My stepmum and all her siblings have the same middle name, her mum's maiden name. The idea was that when the girls married and changed their surnames, they'd still all have something in common. I think that's nice.

Clearly my joke loses something in translation.

Say "Jane" with a nasal North London twang (like wot I used to have until my parents told me my nice new school wouldn't take me if I spoke "like that".....)

It then sounds like it's spelt with a "y".

    Never mind........?

Incidentally my maternal grandfather was a Yorkshireman so maybe that's how my parents heard of it.

Gosh...I'm the only one with my middle name on this thread so far!

My middle name is Joanna. Named after the Scott Walker song of the same name...Mum was a big fan.lol.

I like the way it sounds with my first name...2 syllables, 3 syllables...it flows well.

Well I too am another Victoria who's middle name is not Louise!

Mine is infact Ellen after my granny (paternal) my mother was still in hospital when my dad went to register me, as I was born on New Years Eve and both the 1st & 2nd of January being holidays in Scotland he went down on the 3rd of Jan, with it being the 80's ladies were kept in hosptial around 7 days after giving birth, hene why he went on his own - so he put it in without her knowing.

For the first couple of hours my name was Carol (same as mum) but she then decided that she didn't want big Carol and wee Carol. My auntie heard a 1st birthday announcement on the radio a few hours before I was born for twins called Lesley-Anne (my elder sisters name) and Victoria, so when she came to visit my mum later in the day after I was born and was told they were thinking of calling me Carol, she suggested calling me Victoria cos it went very well with Lesley-Anne!

I use mine where asked for on forms etc but its not a big part of my life and I'm not particulary keen on it!

    Luv Victoria

    xx

Mine's Louise. Dullity duull. But I do love it when someone on BT says they're calling their baby Sophia Louise - I think, yay, after me! ?

    My sisters' are:

    Kate
    Sarah
    Mary and
    Jane

    ?

I love the story though, of my eldest sister Emma who forgot to register her younger daughter's name until Pandora was about 17 and wanted to apply for a passport, and couldn't ? and so Em let her choose her own middle name, and she chose to be Emma after her mum ?

Add me to the Elizabeth bench. Parents gave me a long first name to balance out my (four letter) maiden surname. Sadly, I married a bloke with a much longer name, and now have a stupid 27 letters in my full name, should I ever use it. Doesn't actually fit on most forms.

Another victoria middle namer. i think it's a really nice name. why my parents gave me that as a middle name and saddled me with kieren as a first name defeats me ?

having said that, there were stacks of vickys in my year at school (and nicolas and louises), so no doubt had i been called that, i wouldn't have liked it either ?

fwiw, i like the name louise, but maybe because i've never met one who wasn't nice.
