What make up will you be using for your wedding day?

BrogstarBride, 3 March, 2013 at 18:39 Posted on Planning 0 17

I'm just in the process of trying out different make up brands and was wondering if you have any recommendations? And I'm not sure what sort of eye shadow to go for powder ones or cream eye shadows seem to be popular now?

I'm planning on doing my own makeup as well. I'm going for Laura Mercier and MAC - quite pricey but you get to keep them all afterwards! I'll probably go for a MAC counter tutorial to make sure I get the right colours at some point. I think if you're doing your own it's important to remember you'll need things like primer and highlighter which you might not normally need so that it stays all day and shows up well in photos.

MAC I've been using it for years, I recently bought YSL's foundation which is different for me as I don't usually wear liquid foundations but its seems good, but when it comes to colour ranges eye make up, lipgloss etc it will def be MAC, plus my makeup artist (a friend) works for them so its a bit of a result. I hear Bobby brown is good too.

Hi, Ive been wondering about this too so I went to boots and went round all the counters asking them what colours and types of make up would suit my skin. I also got a few samples to try. The ladies at the no 7 counter will do your make up for free if you book and can get to your local store on the day of your wedding.

I absolutely hate make-up, so that's already an issue. Another issue is that I suffer from Aquagenic Urticaria, so I can't wear anything that isn't in dry powder form. I tried an eye pencil once at a wedding fayre and I came out in hives and was itching up a storm. :C So, if I have anything, I suppose it would need to be powder. mineral based powders, maybe?

    Estee Lauder, Prescriptives, Bobbi Brown.

Though I'm having a pro do mine, those are the brands I would use if doing it myself. I just don't have all the products or skills necessary to make myself look like a brilliant bride.

I had to have a pro, I couldnt have done it myself, I wear make up everyday and have done for 18 years (that makes me feel old) so know what I am doing to an extent but there was no chance I was risking it on my wedding day. MUA are trained to make your make up last all day, currently mien seems to vanish by about 5pm so it was vital someone did it for me.

Mine used a combination of Estee Lauder, MAC, Benefit and Bare Minerals. I still use all of the products today- I just cant apply them as well as she did!

I am hoping to have the budget for a Pro because the results I have seen have been fantastic- but I have had a few lessons with the girl at my local benefit and I am fairly confident with the products.

Having a MUA. Been wearing makeup for as long as I can remember (ex-pro dancer) and want it to stay put all day so as I can never get mine to last that long a MUA was a must for me :-)

    Hi,

I would completely recommend Bare Minerals. My daughter used it for her wedding and I use it all the time, and she is also hooked. Once on it looks natural and stays put all day. You can have a free trial at a botique store or John Lewis or Debenhams and then collect the pieces they recommend gradually. The waterproof flawless definition mascara is essential for such a happy event!

    Hope that helps

    Lynne

I'm planning on trying Bare Minerals. Have heard great things about it!

I use No 7 normally which I do like but I want something with more staying power.

All my makeup is Clinique and i went and had a makeover on Saturday just to get some tips on how to apply it etc. I'd love to try MAC but i'm slightly scared by the ladies at the counter - they're always in very heavy colouful "stage" makeup (IMO) and that worries me!

Is MAC much more expensive than Clinique? I don't know how they all compare price-wise....

Mac is very heavy, I use the studio fix foundation for nights out only, never during the day as I think it feels like a mask. But the studio fix powder is good.

I want to look dewy on my wedding day so need some tips from counters.

Dior forever foundation and powder, trusty loreal primer ( if it ain't broke ...) mac for my eye shadow and eye liner. Will be using my loreal bronzed and blusher as they are just the right shade and tend to stay put and can be topped up easily. Just mascara I'm not decided on.
