What month are you getting married in and why?

loves-young-dream, 2 November, 2012 at 06:37 Posted on Planning 0 19

I am thinking April (2015) as I've always wanted a spring theme wedding, but am kind of swaying more into summer now due to the weather?! x

December 2013, We both love winter and Christmas, and our jobs are at their quietest during that month, so we are able to book the enitre month off work

    December...next month?

Very similar reasons to Harveyliz....our work shuts down for 3 weeks at Christmas but more importantly it's our favourite time of year.

An added bonus is that's it's also off peak, which makes the venue much cheaper!

We knew we wanted spring cos it's cheaper and sometimes the weather is nicer in spring. so we picked may 15th, then this may was the wettest may of all time. but then so was june and july. so at least we picked the cheapest month!!! sometimes it snows in march sometimes its nice, and april showers put us off april.... but none of it matters because you JUST CANT TELL!!! pick a month that suites your budget, thats my advice. paying more doesnt guarantee you anything (just more expensive and harder to book suppliers) xx

December 2013 - Because we both work as motorsport photographers and this is when the season ends, we work from mid Jan to end of Nov with every few free weekends...

Though it always have been at the back of my mind i would like a winter wedding.... warmth of the winter fire, joy of the time of year and the VERY slight chance of snow in the UK! Smiley smile

Also as a photographers, we thought that the light in the afternoon, could be lovely. The photography is one of the most important things to us on our day... (which in turn is making it very hard for us to pick a photographer for our day!)

December 2012, we didn't want a long engagement & we're getting married 5 years from the day we met. If it wasn't December it would have been May 2013 a year from our engament

May 2013. I love May, it's usually the nicest month of the year (in my opinion) with all the flowers blossoming. The weather CAN be nice but of course it's not guaranteed, so that's why we'll have most of the activities inside and only the drinks/toasts outside in the garden. I also wanted to get married early so that I don't have to wait around the whole summer getting nervous (I tend to get nervous about big things). This way, we get a nice wedding in May, then we can relax and enjoy the summer as a married couple!

We've chosen September and are getting married legally on the anniversary of the day we originally met, just the two of us.

Our actual wedding will be 2 days later, September 12th with family and friends, as the above is a Thursday.

I'm a bit weird about dates and could never have just picked one out, it would always have had to be a day that's already special. So it had to be either September when we met, or January when we got together. Of the two, September was our preferred choice Smiley smile

September because didn't want to get married in the school holidays (meaning cheaper honeymoon and hopefully less of other peoples children to put up with) but still wanted decent weather and the past 3 years the weathers been pretty decent in September.

We needed to get married in school holidays as BM is at uni. We originally wanted to get married in August but it didn't leave us enough time to plan, so it ended up being December. In the end I prefer it being December though...I love Christmastime and as we're having a very small wedding a winter wedding is cosier. Plus I hate being hot and our original wedding date ended up being one of the hottest days of the summer!

March 2013 for us, no romantic reason though! The venue were running an amazing offer from December - March and with half of our guests travelling from Wales to Nottingham, March gives us the smallest chance of people not being able to attend due to snow!

Plus both our parents got married in March and are still going strong! And OH didn't want to get married in summer as he gets really hot really easily let alone in a suit!

June, because its before the season hits and its after the football season (and the week befpre the world cup, didnt want to happen what i saw once, where it was englands first match of the season and there were a group of people huddled around a TV watching the match rather than enjoying the wedding)

December - I absolutely love Christmas time, and I wanted something really cosy and romantic, and heavily inspired by woodland etc. I also love Christmas music a bit too much, so the string quartet we are having will be playing chistmas carols when the photos are being taken. I also hope Christmas music will feature in the evening disco too at some point!

It was also convenient for us going to Thailand on honeymoon as December / January is one of the best times to go, and I'm thrilled we'll be on honeymoon at New Year.
