What more can we fecking do!!! (long rant!) ** UPDATE**

Mrs Chef, 4 July, 2008 at 20:31 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 17

i live in a cul-de-sac opposite a park so just one line of houses nothing opposite other than the park and a car park. My living room window has a clear view of the car park so i often see all the comings and goings.

every day this week we have had the same 2 cars with a few lads come in drive over to the back corner and stay there smoking for at least 2 hours. now this hasn't just started, the same lads often drive down my road at about 60mph (yes a dead end road!) donut round the car park and generally spend a lot of time either in the car park or at the other end of the road hidden by the bushes.

the neighbourhood watch are aware of who they are, as are the police but they need to be caught doing what they're doing. we called the police the other day as they were clearly up to no good and were told they were on their way but surprise surprise never showed up. today they were reported again to the police as they were back in the car park smoking drugs (you could smell it!) the police advised they were on their way and guess what, no show.

now dont get me wrong, i am related to a police officer and know that this isn't the main priority and they cant always just drop everything BUT when i'm constantly reading in our local paper about wanting to cut down on crime, drug abuse and anti-social behaviour and we're handing obvious culprits to the police on a plate yet they STILL dont show up what more can you do??

so my questions is, do i

forget it and just prey that they dont run a child over coming out of the park,

put up with the blatent and constant drug use and dealing under our noses

or contact the local papers and get someone interested and my street clear of the doss house it's becoming!

sorry for the long rant!

** UPDATE**

i called the police again tonight as it's been going on still for the last few days and would you bloody believe they're out there! searching all the lads and the car it'll be sods law that tonight they wont find anything i'm just chuffed that finally i'm being listened to. and i'll continue to cal the police if they keep up their antics and hopefully they'll get caught of get the message to get out of my road at least! {smug icon} ?

Personally, I'd just keep reporting to the police as you have been, when they're free they'll come. I appreciate it's frustrating though. Might just be me, but I wouldn't contact the papers as I wouldn't want my area to get a 'reputation' ?

Report them now and ask for police presence because of the girl with no drivers licence. Maybe that may seem more important to them.

Sorry I feel for you, we have problems with kids drinking round our house and it took a lot of shouting to be heard!

Have you tried passing the details on to Crime Stoppers, as well as contacting the police ? I also agree with the suggestion of getting in contact with your local councellor.

I was about to suggest the same thing Orly. My first contact would be the local council, they may be able to do something or pressure the police to put more importance on it.

I'd go for contacting your local MP.

Make notes of all the times of day and dates you ve called the police and they havent showed. then write to your MP, you local councillor, the mayor, the chief superintendant of your local force and quote it all.

i have done things like that before ?. works too.

This has given me a brilliant mental image of mini teenage criminals, dealing drugs on a dinner plate. A white dinner plate.

Another vote for local councillor here. I'm a local govt monkey and believe me, when elected members start sniffing around specific local issues, officers like me are expected to take action, and fast. Linking to the crime number seems like a good move too.

Be careful about your own personal involvement though - particularly if lots of people come to know you are "on the case". As you've already found out with the non-licence-holder, it can be a small world.

My parents live down a country lane that goes nowhere and a while had problems with drug dealing although it fortunately died out pretty quickly. When they contacted the police they said they would come out if they were flytipping but not for drug dealing. Work that one out.

clearly fly tipping is waaaay more important!

well they've all gone now. no arrests but a few bits of paper handed out, i'm assuming producers and info that they've been searched. maybe that'll put em off for a bit!
