At the moment I think we're using:

Wagner's Bridal Chorus to walk in

Mendelssohn's Wedding March on the way out.

I don't know why more people don't use these traditional pieces anymore. We might use Ave Maria as thats what my mum used when she married my Father. Don't know what she had when she married my Dad. Everyone i've spoken to recently seems to have or going to have Canon in D by Pachelbel.

OMG - our wedding is less than 3 months away and we haven't even got to thinking about the ceremony music yet....gulp. Will be watching this thread for ideas - need to meet the registrar again soon to tie all this up so will definitely need to get this in hand!

I think something by the vitamin string quartet but I cannot decide which song ... I fancied kings of leon use somebody or the beatles all you need is love .... whereas OH wants something by Nirvana (the song title is very inappropriate ... his suggestions always make me think he isn't taking the wedding very seriously lol)

Oh gawd dunno! Probably the traditional organ here comes the bride music. Never even thought about this as I'm getting married in a church. If I was having a civil service I'd love to have a string quartet!

I agree with you and will be having the traditional music being placed by the organist.

Looking forward to it too, as its the sound you always dream of as a little girl and I think that will be when i start feeling the flutters of excitment on the day

Im either having the "Boots" advert (Here come the girls) however, I have just been listening to my Enya c.d and her 'Love Song' is just gorgeous, so at the minute I'm swaying toward using this one.

Mrs B2B and Moonpie, i'm so glad some other people are doing the same thing.

Moonpie, i agree about it being the traditional thing. When i imagine myself standing at the church doors waiting to go in, its the bridal chorus I imagine starting up and it gives me butterflies and sort of gives me that 'eeee here we go' feeling IYSWIM?

Civil ceremony entrance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqQ-bRszLvQ (Handel's La Rejouissance)

    Exit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iE56gakBsYQ (Mendelssohn's Wedding march)

Blessing entrance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqLZ28B8z74&feature=fvst (Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary)

Exit (not 100% decided on this): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o56CvcCcuLA (Handel's Hallelujah Chorus)

I'm a bit of a classical geek, so am quite excited about all the music!

    I sure do!

I am actually feeling quite excited just thinking of the music i will be walking to.

I was worried before that OH would want us to pick something a bit more unusual, but when I mentioned the music to him earlier this week, he said that he agrees and it should be traditional.

We can have all the crazy music we want at the reception party! Smiley laugh

I've wanted Canon in D ever since I first got into orchestral music as a teenager. However, since then I reckon 90% of weddings I go to (and I've been to a lot - 10 this year alone!) have that as the entrance music and I don't want to just be another number. We're having a choir, who could sing it, which would make it a little different, but I'm trying to see if I can find another piece of music that I like just as much.

FOr the exit, I want Mendelsson's Wedding March. I wasn't sure until my sister had it earlier this year. We were in the vestry after signing the register and waiting to go out, when I just heard "bah bah bah baaaaaaaaah" on the organ and it sent shivers down my spine!

Interesting...orchestral music as a teenager is precisely the reason I can't STAND Pachelbel. I used to play the cello, which is a bad start for that piece, and then had to study it for GCSE music which removed any residual liking I might have felt for it.

I do wish we could have a choir though. ☹️

Brooks & Dunn - Red Dirt Road. I'm having an acoustic guitar instrumental version of it (i'm not allowed it with the lyrics because we're having a civil wedding)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBTpoKvre84&feature=related

Walking Back up the Aisle to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGMabBGydC0&ob=av2e - Send me on my way - Rusted Roots.

Not entirely sure about what music we'll be signing the register to though.

Ditto, well almost - just the Somewhere Over The Rainbow version for me! The day after HTB proposed I heard this song on the radio for the first time and fell in love with it! We are getting married by the beach so this version is perfect, and 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' is also one of my Nana's favourite songs so it will make me feel a bit like she is there as neither grandparents can make the journey to the wedding :-(

Though I still love it, I am a bit peeved that it has since been hijacked by Glee and adverts/TV programmes so more people have heard it now!!

We have a harpist for the ceremony and drinks reception music.

Originally I wanted the Wedding March but then realised that every time I hear it I get really nervous at the whole 'look at me' aspect of it. So then I thought Canon in D. When we met up with our harpist though she also played this piece for me and I fell in love with. It made me feel so calm, happy, peaceful and full of love all at the same time.

Yiruma - River Flows in You http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOqUFqF_ZwM

It is also a piece of music that she can make last as long or a short as we need it to be which is a bonus.

    Hello

I'm not sure whether to have a classical piece of music or something more modern - I'm struggline with classic. My favourite choices at the moment to walk down the aisle to is Paul Weller 'Thinking of you' which is a cover of the classic Sister Sledge version. It is slightly slower. Then in the evening we can play the original version......Or the cover of Bob Marley's 'Is this Love' sung by Corrine Rae Bailey...... ooh ?

We're not 100% decided yet but I think I'm walking in to First Day of My Life by Bright Eyes and out to New Found Glory's version of Glory of Love.
