What photos will you/did you have before your ceremony?

kyanya, 26 April, 2013 at 16:23 Posted on Planning 0 3

I'm trying to work out my timings for the day - our church service starts at 12pm and we're getting ready half an hour away. TOG will be starting with us in the morning while we're getting ready, but he wants to be at the church 45mins before kick-off so that means he'd need to leave us at 10.45am!

I'm wondering if I need to be completely ready before he leaves for some photos, and if my 3 BMs, mum and dad also need to be ready by then. It's just mum and I having our make-up done by a MUA so there'll be enough time for that, but all 5 of us girls want our hair done so if we all need to be ready by 10.30 or before for photos we're either going to have an early start or need two hairdressers to whizz through us all from 8am-ish.

So what photos did you/will you have taken before your ceremony? Just getting ready or did you also have any with your BMs and parents when everyone is ready? I know all those photos could be done later on in the day as everyone will still be there (we're getting ready at the reception venue, so we'll return back to the same venue after the ceremony), but I quite like the idea of having photos with my girls and parents all looking lovely before the madness of trying to talk to all our guests takes hold.

Although thinking about it, there will be guests attending the wedding staying the night before at our venue so I can't have photos taken around the grounds until my guests have left in case they see me. The guests won't have left when the TOG leaves for the church though, so I can't actually have photos anywhere apart from in the room I'm getting ready in before the ceremony. It is a gorgeous room though so some shots of me and my girls and parents in there, all looking gorgeous and ready would be lovely...

I had two photographers, so the second shooter did some getting ready shots with the men and then went off to the church at the same time they did (obviously earlier than I did).

My sister only had one photographer, so she had to be completely ready by 45 mins before the ceremony (maybe even an hour) as the tog needed to go off to the church to get pics of the men.

As I had more time, I had tons of getting ready shots, then some of me with mum, dad and BMs. The pics were taken in the hotel room, but I deliberately chose a hotel with amazing views from the windows, so most were taken with that in the background. My sister got ready at her house, so also had lots of getting ready shots, then a few of her with our parents. Pics of her and the BMs were taken after the ceremony.

Re timings, my ceremony wasn't until 2pm, but my hair and MUA still came at 8am!

    Hi

Don't forget your photographer can also do some shots at the church before you go in - so perhaps you with your dad, and one with your bridesmaids. The best thing to do is to ask your photographer what they would prefer to do, and what they find works best for them.

Yep I would agree with that - ask your photographer.

I only need 10-15 mins max with the lads at the church before you turn up to the church, at 45 mins before there will be no one there, 45 seems a bit much and cuts things short with you

We had our ceremony and reception at one venue. We had the groom and groomsmen done before ceremony, me and BM's getting ready and when the guests were in the ceremony room me, Mum, Dad and Bridesmaids had ours done before the wedding and then loads more after. The TOG also did all of the detail shots in the ceremony room and dining room before any guests entered.
