What should i be asking our venue

justengaged, 17 December, 2008 at 14:01 Posted on Planning 0 5

I feel i should be checking things with our venue but dont know what LOL

So far i can only think of menu choices and what colour table linnen they have so it matches the favour boxes. It is only 5 months away now, is there things i should be asking them to confirm/check or advise on?

Thanks xxx

Theres a section under the venues at the top of the page that goes through pretty much everything you could need to know. the only other thing i think is if you want candles, my friend wasn't allowed anything higher than a tea light!

5 months v exciting! you have everything else all organised?

Depending on your venue, do ask about wet weather scenarios for the photography. Many venues have great outside opportunities although these become redundant if it rains. This is something that often gets overlooked, although many will clear a room (if possible) to accomodate a bit more space for any group shots. My local venues charge nothing extra for this facility if the photographer asks in advance.

Do not be put off by assuming your venue room is big enough....by the time the tables are set and all your guests are in, that space will shrink dramatically.

How exciting - me too! I haven't thought about contacting them until the New Year but I'll be askign about photography options in wet weather and we have an outstanding question on draft beer (as venue doesn't have a cellar and only offered us bottled beer which my H2B is not very happy about). We're also checking their ipod audio system is all working as a friend had a wedding recently and their DJ didn't turn up so we're prepping an ipod with some top party tunes as a back up. Candles is a good shout too as I wanted to have loads but think I may have to get those battery operated flicker things. I'm hoping to book a visit before the big day so that my florist and photographer can see the venue beforehand too. HTH!

My advice would be to book a meeting with your venue about 6 weeks prior to your day and keep a list of all your questions in the meantime. Anything that crops up and is a burning issue needs to be asked in advance to put your mind at ease though.

Is the wedding co-ordinator at your venue on email?
