What should I put on my tables?

Clohugs, 1 August, 2008 at 10:50 Posted on Planning 0 19

This is what my reception room will look like except I'm having bottles not biscuits and we won't be having 10 at a table so there will be a bit more room. There are fishbowls with 3 white roses in the middle of the table which you can't really see in the photo.

My only concern is that the tables look a little bare. I was thinking of scattering dark purple silk petals/crystals on the tables but I'm not sure. The room is very detailed & I don't want to take away from that.

So are you planning on having the same, fishbowls with white roses?

Could you change the colour of the flowers if so? Otherwise, I'd go with purple table diamonds/crystals to jazz it up a bit, I always think that scattered petals look really untidy.

I do agree that you need a bit of colour in there, and I think purple table diamonds/crystals would look nice.

On my tables I am having a single glass jar in the middle with purple petals in the bottom and a white candle in it. Quite simple but adds a bit of colour to it.

Thanks for the advice ladies. The table centres are included in the price of the venue so I don't think I can change them without a fee unfortunately. We can either have a single white calla in a vase (which we are having a few of along the top table) or the fishbowls.

I liked table diamonds but they are so expensive and H2B said it looked like crumbs on the table! I'm going to see what the cheaper brands/cut glass ones are like as I can't afford to spend too much.

Any other suggestions for introducing a bit of colour?

Gorgeous venue! I would also look at some purple glass nuggets or similar to add a splash of colour x

Yeh I was going to say confetti as well.

I would definitely recommend ebay as you can get loads of bargains on there.

Thanks Futuremrslord that's an option if I can't get glass nuggets/crystals in my budget.

I do love my venue KentishBride!

I did see some purple table crystals on Ebay but there aren't any just now except swarovski ones. Not sure if I like the metallic confetti or not! Smiley smile

    Hiya,

Someone on here got another make of table diamonds and said they were just as good and much cheaper but I can't remember their username or what the things were actually called. I've tried search googling but had to joy. Maybe you could put a thread up saying 'cheaper versions of table diamonds' and see if that hitcher is still around.

Thanks Lynsey - I vaguely remembered that too which is why I thought I'd look at them as there's now way H2B will agree to spending that much on table sparkles (which he thinks look like bread crumbs). I'll pop a post out for the mystery hitcher. I have a feeling it was Mrs Snow Patroller but I don't know why.

I agree with Jules - the venue is fabulous and I think less is more in some instances so personally wouldn't add to the tables. I think too much clutter would take away from the look of the room.

Thanks for your opinions ladies. I am buying crystals for the night time so I might go & look at the place set up again before I decide what to do.

Did you get the crystals Mrs SP suggested? They looked good and I might even use them instead!

I have asked for a sample but I haven't got it yet. I think I'm just going to order them- it's an auction which ends @ 3pm & at the mo it's at £20 for 1000. I'll pop you one in the post when I get them & you can compare them to the Swarovski ones before you decide.
