What should I put with my dress?

AniaF, 18 February, 2011 at 19:10 Posted on Planning 0 12

There must be some fashion conscious people on here, unfortunately I’m not one of them! I have no idea what to do with my dress, I almost never accessorise outfits and I don’t wear any jewellery but I don’t want to look too plain on the day.

This is my dress. I’m putting a bolero with it but that is all I have decided:

Mum wants me to have a veil for some Polish tradition that she thinks I should use, I don’t really have any desire to include Polish traditions but I’ve said no to inviting all of my distant relations from Poland so I feel I should give in on this one. We’re having a small wedding and there isn’t a colour scheme so I can choose anything I want I think.

Wow it is stunning!! My mum has ordered her MOB dress from the same site- so flattering! Maybe a side headband for your hair- loads of people on here will have flashed theirs. Were you thinking of sparkle or pearls for your jewellery? I love your dress!!!

I love the dress... I would have really chunky pearl necklace and braclet.

I think high red shoes would also look really cool.

A flower in your hair or a birdcage veil will finish the look.

A traditional veil would not look right with this style dress.

I had a birdcage if youy want pics I am more than happy to send!!!!

One of my friends had this as her wedding dress and she wore it with a black petticoat underneath, a black sash and back shoes. She looked stunning in it. x

Because of the halter neckline, i think maybe you can do away with a necklace altogether and wear some nice chandelier earrings and then you can have an up do for your hair with a little band that goes well with the earrings.

I also like the other ladies ideas of going with a sash or shoes of a different colour...

    It is a stunning dress...

Thanks all for your suggestions. The veil definitely has to be a traditional one, but i've seen traditional style veils with the type of dress I have before and I don't think it looks so bad.

Ohhh I so nearly bought that dress!!

You can get away with a normal veil with that dress, what are the rest of colours in your theme?

I don't have a colour theme, I'm not having any flowers or any bridesmaids and our reception is in a private dining room where they provide everything so there is nothing else to add colour to. So I can have any colour I want, apart from black which my mother says is for funerals. I'm surprised she is okay with a non floor length dress to be honest!

Ooh gorgeous! I think a side tiara (with a bird cage veil perhaps) would look nice (sneak preview of new collection here - I have more new designs I can email if you are interested) http://www.facebook.com/louloubelledesigns?v=photos#!/album.php?aid=33980&id=109659329056257 and a chunky pearl bracelet such as "Monroe" http://www.louloubelle.co.uk/bracelets_bridal.html#bracelets_monroe

I'd be tempted to go without a necklace because of the halterneck and then earrings to match the bracelet and pearls on the tiara like "Hepburn" http://www.louloubelle.co.uk/earrings_bridal.html#earrings_hepburn

Please feel free to drop me an email on ****@***********.**.** if I can help at all.

What a great dress. I personally would match it with a fabulous pair of coloured shoes, go without a necklace and just have some earrings and a bracelet. I am not sure how you are having your hair but if it is up, I would recommend some pins. Here are some ideas, if you wanted to go with some colour, the crystals look great in colour as well as clear. If I can be of any more help, please feel free to

    Hi,

I wouldn't wear a necklace and would go for gorgeous earrings and a statement bracelet instead.

All of my designs can be done in colour and pearls can be swapped with crystals etc.

This isn't blue, it's just the reflection from the camera flash against the Swarovski AB Crystals

This was designed for another Hitcher who had black incorporated into her dress.

The images above are from my Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=28293&id=138437779505448 and my website has further ideas www.lynseysdesigns.co.uk.

Drop me an email if you want to ask anything - ******@**************.**.**.

    Thanks Lx

I love Vivienne of Holloway! I have two of her dresses and I can tell you, they ALWAYS draw so many compliments!

The dresses I have are also Halterneck (really iritatingly I have just tried to get some photos of me wearing one to a wedding last year to show you what jewellry I wore but it seems Facebook has turned fascist and won't let me copy and save my own photos for some reason....grrrrr!) and I wore a vintage-esque aqua-marine & diamond necklace and small diamond stud earrings....

My best advice would be to try and beg and borrow as many different styles of jewellery and different combos as possible and then decide.

The cut of these dresses is so stunning that you may find that less is more!
