What should I read first?

Allison Wonderland, 30 March, 2008 at 17:38 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

Have been to the market today and bought a pile of 2nd hand books, some pure trash I expect. I got
The Memory Keeper's Daughter (Kim Edwards)
Man and Wife (Tony Parsons) sequel to Man & Boy
The Pact (Jodi Picoult)
Crowded Marriage (Catherine ALliot)
The Bonesetter's Daughter (Amy Tan)
May Contain Nuts (John O'Farrell)

I want to read them all straight away! Any advice? Which ones should I either keep until I'm desperate for something to read, or should I savour any in particular?

Last book I read was The Lollipop Shoes by Joanne Harris, before that was Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan.

I found The Memory Keeper's Daughter a bit slow but did manage to finish it.

The Pact is OK but I find all her books to be a bit samey.

    Haven't read the others.
Sorry if that's not much help [:I]

Yes, I picked that one up as I remebered seeing good reviews of it on here. Maybe I should save it? I have some holiday to take this month, it would be nice to curl up and lose myself in a good book for a day or two

Man & Wife & The Pact are definitely holiday reading, also probably the Memory keepers daughter, so read one of the others and save those for your hols.

I like the Memory Keeper's Daughter too, my grandmother bought it for me for my birthday.

I've read man and wife which is ok.

I haven't read the crowded marriage one but her books are usually quite light and easy going - easy by the pool with your fancy cocktail kind of books.

In that case I've read it and it's funny and entertaining if a wee bit far fetched
