What should we do in New York?

NickyNooNaa, 17 April, 2009 at 20:28 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

We are going to New York in June to see a friend, looks like we'll see very little of our friend so will have the time to ourselves. I have been to NY a couple of times, first time to see an old friend and didn't really do much, second time we were only there for a day and did nothing!

So, what should we be doing with all that spare time, apart from shopping!

My top tip is get a bus ticket. Yes tres touristy but it's hop on hop off and is a great way to get about. Just don't go with the company that has the blue buses, their service is awful. Top of the rock beats the empire state and generaly has a shorter queue. The statue of liberty is the most overrated thing ever in my opinion but for many it's a must do.

Thanks, that's good to know. I did do Empire, queue wasn't too long back then.

    Thanks.

    Top 3:

go to the top of the empire state building, much better views than the main public area

take the free staten island ferry from the base of Manhatten past the statue of liberty and back

walk the length of fifth avenue, shopping and looking at the film sites like the public library & grand central station

The World Trade Centre tribute centre is at 120 Liberty Street. If you stand facing the site with your back to Century 21 it's the road on the left with Burger King on the corner. People seem to have a real problem finding it, I must direct at least one person there a day! If you want to see the site go over ot the world Financial centre you get a good view from the mall there, it's currently almost impossible to see anything from ground level.
