What should you book when?

Southern_Comfort, 29 May, 2016 at 06:35 Posted on Planning 0 9

I'm not getting married until September 2017 so feel like I've got ages to go, but people keep telling me it will be here before I know it, so now I'm starting to panic!

What should I be looking to book and when? I feel we've sorted the major stuff (venue, registrar, photographer, even my dress)

What would you focus on next? Flowers, entertainment, cake, rings? Help!!!

Entertainment, September is in peak season. Then your cake, then flowers. There's no rush for rings, they're not exactly something which could become unavailable due to demand. Have you sorted BM dresses and suits? Invitations?

I would book people who only do one wedding a day. So photographer, videographer, florist, photobooth, DJ, hairdresser and make up.

I am getting married in July 2017. I have sorted registrar, photographer, videographer, florist, cake, my dress and veil, bridesmaid dresses, DJ, photobooth, light up letters, cake stands, table place settings and table decor. I have also booked hair and make up. Next on my list is the hen do! X

The big stuff is easier to know when to book, isn't it? Smiley smile

I booked my flowers January or February this year (getting married in August). We got our rings in April, to make sure we had them in time. I also had booked my MUA by June last year.

Not sure about cake, as we are ordering ours from M&S a couple of weeks before the wedding.

We're getting married in September 2017 too... so far i've bought my shoes lol

we are in no massive rush yet as we have only been engaged a fortnight and haven't even got the engagement party out of the way yet but we have looked at a venue yesterday... it was nice but didn't seem like it would be highly booked (probably because its quite hidden and most people don't know its there plus they only have a tiny one sentence line at the bottom of their bio say 'we also host fairytale weddings' its very easy to miss even if you do find the website)

I've researched stuff so we know a lot of what we want its just nothing is actually booked

I am getting married in September 17 as well and thought I was organised - we have venue, photographer, entertainment, minister and transport booked (florist i guess too as they supply the venue flowers and she said i can add on our flowers to technically that's booked without me choosing anything). We have a family friend who is a baker doing our cake for us as a bit on the side from his day job as well, so not 'officially' booked.

I thought i was too early to start looking at dresses, invitations etc but everyone keeps asking me about things like that but I don't really want to rush everything then be sat for ages with nothing wedding related to look forward to.

Its stressful trying to decide to just bite the bullet and do it or leave it a while??!! I feel your pain!

You have booked the main things that get booked up quick, so now just enjoy the wedding planning and take your time. Go to wedding fairs & things, enjoy it! It will go fast but you have plenty of time to make decisions and book the right things & people rather than rushing.

Make a list of your priority bookings, i'd start with entertainment and then what ever else is next from that and just go through it. I think rings can be bought a few months before. Also, in September it could be a good idea to go and chat with florists and see what flowers they have that are in season at that time, you don't have to book then but at least you can see and choose what you like.

You'll find that the best suppliers get booked very early. I have bookings for 2018 already. You should be booking the suppliers that only do one event each day. Other things can be sorted later. September is peak wedding season and I have 7 weddings booked already for Sept 2017.
