What sort of stuff do you expect to see posted in OT?

I think WP and BT threads tend to get posted on here to get a different perspective but generally I expect to read about anything from the sublime to the ridiculous on OT.

I find it an in-between place... but it's where I belong... now an old married but not yet venturing into parenthood (although I still don't think I will ever end up in BT!!)

I don't mind the WP posts from those who are not keen on the new look WP and are regulars to OT.

I do like a good debate from time to time which we do get here... speaking of which... where is Footlong?

I take it as just a place for random chatter.

I think the WP/BT should really be kept on those forums but especially with WP being as twee as it is at the moment I can see why some of the hardcore WPers want to post over here with their 'friends' and with at least the hope of getting a reply!

The BT thing I'm a bit unsure of as obviously people want to share their news and updates with their friends but if anyone were to be avoiding the BT for personal or sens reasons I think it might be hard to come across a BT post when your not expecting it on OT.

Personally I think it's unneccessary to post wedding and baby stuff on here. I am rather bored of wedding stuff (hence me not going onto WP very often) so will not really post on these threads. I think baby stuff may bore people who dont have babies, so its best kept to BT where people like talking about babies.

I agree with that completely. Must be like an extra smack in the teeth if you're already feeling delicate and then it doesn't even feel 'safe' here (iykwim).

Totally agree with both of these points. Dont mind the x posted weddingy ones every so often as they cant really "upset" anyone so to speak but probably best if the BT stays where its meant to be.

This had never even crossed my mind and I feel guilty now. Hope I've not banged on too much.

If WP starts drifting over here then WP will start to go really quiet and defeat the purpose of OT.

I feel really bad!! Are the baby tickers annoying too? I don't mind removing them?

Obviously I can only speak for myself but I certainly wouldn't expect anyone to remove their ticker!

I dont know really...its weird cos in real life you wouldnt categorise your conversations by subject, like weddings, babies etc. You would generally talk about stuff you are into at the time.

This is a Wedding Planning Website, and OT is, in my opinion, by its name, a place to talk about any subject other other than Weddings? No?

I do sometimes think, 'I'll ask the Hitchers about this' about all number of subjects....food, stuff going on in life...we are a very varied bunch and its nice to get opinions off people who you dont 'know' irl...?

I tend not to go on BT cause I don't "know" anyone on there and if I am being honest, I get annoyed with those blooming repetitive daily threads *Thursday TTC* *Friday 2nd Tri* etc. I'm not sure what they are for.

I'm not sure if I have posted much BT stuff on here but certainly never want to upset anyone. I know there are more than just me UTD on OT so I may not have upset anyone at all but apologise if I have.

We also talk about weight loss in here a lot and there is a sub-forum for that too! I am not that bothered!

Same here! Having been planning the wedding for so long, I've done everything and am fed up of the same old rubbish being posted time and time again. If I do have a wedding related question then I'll post it on WP. Sometimes I just want an opinion from a number of people who aren't involved in the wedding e.g. menu choices. I wouldn't ask all my wedding guests to choose from a menu, but it's nice to see a majority opinion on here.

As an aside I expect to see all sorts of every day things on here, including stuff that maybe belongs on BT or WP- I have no strong feelings on either, if the title of the thread looks like it may be about either and its a subject I am not interested in I leave it- simples.

As an OM who finds WP boring, I stear clear of that forum.

My youngest is almost 10 so I have nothing to contribute to BT.

Which leaves OT, although I don't always feel that I fit in here sometimes.

I never feel like I fit in anywhere...have kinda got used to it now.

I don't think it's as easy as that when it comes to BT related topics.

Obviously there are going to be announcements when reg OTers are upduffed or give birth etc and that's lovely - I don't think anyone would begrudge them of that. But TTC and pregnancy can be such a heart breaking period for some and I'd hate to think that people were avoiding OT because BT topics were being posted here when there is a perfectly good forum already in place for that kind of thing.

I don't think there are/should be any 'rules' for it, but it's just common sense that baby related questions are going to get a better response and more detailed reply over on BT.

With the weight loss posts I do feel a bit guilty if I post a SW question as I know it's going to be boring to some and there's a weight loss forum, but it's dead there and I know the experts are on here. And most of all, it's not an emotive subject.

I definitely see you pair as part of the OT family.
