I'm sure that Hitched would have had to agree to this, maybe we should contact them and ask for it to be removed.

    I don't like it!

I find it very creepy that they've put little emotions next to each post as if they've been spying Smiley atonished

The emotions might be tracked from the smilies, maybe we should stop using them.

Even more scary I googled you lol http://www.google.com/search?q=Hitched+Mrs+Tonner+2010&rls=com.microsoft:en-gb:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7GZAZ_en

However I don't think you can actually read the posts unless you are signed in, but I never sign out so I can't be sure. If I follow a link back to another forum from my web stats and I am not a member it won't let me view the posts.

Actually, can someone check if you can view the posts if you aren't signed in because you can see the posts on dress flashes.

Yeah you can, I just tried it - not happy .... have made a complaint to Hitched about it, I told them I wont be coming on the site any more if our privacy isnt respected, after all, we are posting our dresses and surprises here so that our h2bs 'cannot' see them. This has spoilt my fun a bit ☹️

You've never had to be signed in to Hitched to be able to read the forums. You only have to be signed in if you want to post something. Confetti and YAYW are all the same.

To be honest I cant see Hitched changing this dynamic as it works for them as well as all the other sites.

Not sure i will be flashing much anymore and i agree this really has spoilt the fun for everyone and also the quite personal stuff some of us have posted on here that were meant only for those who were registered to this forum not the rest of the bloody world!!!!

Yea it has me too, especially as there are quite a few regulars on here that we all seem to 'open up' a bit more to each other plus the flashes of our dresses etc it really should only be availble to those registered on here!! i think the powers that be from hitched need to step in here!! maybe put something in place and pave the way for other forums to do the same to protect their members!!

    Hi

As Mrs C said it looks they are pulling their data from a site called BoardTracker. I have now blocked their spider so they shouldn't be able to read any more posts and I guess we'll drop out over time.

All posts (except those in the listed supplier private forum) can be read by Google and the other main search engines. This is the same for almost all other internet discussion forums and a key part of how they (and we) attract new members. For example if a thread is created about 'SECC Wedding Show' and members give helpful advice on how to get there, what to look out for, the best time to go etc then this information may be returned by Google when someone searches for 'when to go to the SECC wedding show'.

I know what you are saying about girls flashing their dresses but Hitched gets new members from them lurking and if people had to register just to view posts newbies could be put off and not bother registering. I know I spent a few days reading the posts and advice before actually registering. Hitched doesn't say anywhere that posts are private and only registered people can read them so it isn't like any confidential aspect of the forum has been broken. I know I often read posts without having to log in.

Hitched is a public forum accessible to all so it's a shame but people do need to think carefully about posting dresses or having the normal wedding rants. Google knows everything and I think it's wise to remember that anything that is put on the www can be read by others.

Even if you google your name (everyday name not Hitched name) it can be scary what comes up!

I have to say, you are posting on the internet and all search engines pull data from somewhere.

I'm always searching my real name and trying to see how far up the page I am! ?

It's just life on the world wide web...

Dean its great that you have responded to this and yes i agree with some of the others that we are posting on the internet so we do have some responsibility for what we are posting, but it is just so scary as to what people can lay their hands on these days!!!! x

Good response Dean....Although the internet is an open place, it does seem like invasion of a private conversation when what you post is repeated elsewhere for other randoms to read.

wss, with bells ons. if you think that everything you post on here isn't read by a much wider audience than you realise, i think you're being a bit naive. if you don't want people knowing what your dress looks like, or your family issues, or your real name, or your name to be, then don't post it.
