What time are you getting married?

Helybel, 17 June, 2013 at 09:20 Posted on Planning 0 34

So, we have the venue booked and we want to get married there also, but I haven't called the registrar as yet. I'm just trying to think through the timings for the day. Ceremony ~30mins (we'll be having a couple of readings), wedding breakfast inc. speehes ~ 2 hours?, including room change arounds and photos etc I'm thinking 2.30-3.00 pm. What's everone else doing who's getting married at the venue?

I was talking to our Tog about this yesterday. He said he sees a lot of days where it's actually very rushed and his advice would be the earlier the better.

We are marrying at 1.30. Ceremony 45 mins.

Then spare time for drinks, chatter, games and photos

Wedding breakfast at 4 (hog roast, then cheeses etc)

    Speeches 5.15

    Ice cream van at 6pm

    Evening reception at 7

We originally wanted to get married 1.30/2 o'clock but when we rang the registrar they only had 12 or 3 available. We thought 12 hours in one place would be far too much and didn't want people getting bored. Getting married at 3 just meant we had an hour less for the evening disco, and that's H2B's least favourite part anyway!

We're getting married at 1pm in a church, our venue is 2 minutes up the road. Our planner at the venue recommended 1pm as people we're putting me off telling me it was far too early!

We are getting married at 2 and our ceremony and reception will be in the same place.

    14:00-14:30 - Ceremony.

    14:30-16:00 - Drinks/Photos/Mingling.

    16:00-18:00 - Wedding Breakfast.

18:00-19:00 - Speeches and Cake Cutting.

    19:00 or 19:15 - Evening guests arrive.

19:45 - First Dance and DJ starts.

    21:00 Evening Buffet.

    00:00 The End.

Some of these might need to be tweaked but you get the idea. We've also had to make sure we get our first dance in before 8pm as our TOG leaves then so had to be quite regimented with some times.

I would rather allow a little more time than needed then it's there if we need it, if we don't we can have some time to ourselves then do some mingling with guests.

    Hiya,

11:30am, i didnt want to feel rushed through out the day.

    church 1 hour

    Photos 1 hour

    venue mingling 1 hour

    venue photos 1 hour

    3 course meal 2 hours

    Speaches 1 hour

I want a relaxed moment before all the other guests arrive so i have time to chill and take everything in 1h30.

That takes us to 8pm but hoping to get everyone in by 6:30 - 7pm to start hog roast and party Smiley smile and i want garden games for us all Smiley smile

Thanks ladies. Sarahmarie, your layout for the day sounds about spot on for our needs. Maybe nudge it forward to 2pm I think for extra time.

Kentish Gal, what games are you having? I'd like to do something like that, we have a fair few children that will be at the wedding and I'd like to have some things to keep them amused during the drinks reception. OH suggested a bouncy castle but I don't think there's actually enough room, think he just likes the idea himself Smiley smile

    We are having:

    Bouncy castle

    Giant jenga

    Boules

    Limbo

    Quiots

    Giant Connect 4

    Giant dominoes

I am hoping for a 3 legged race but my BM tells me it's too dangerous. We will take a football along.

I have just decided to make a big frame from plywood and have a props basket, and also decided (today) to do a Guess The Sweets in the Jar and a Guess The Name of the Teddy Bear and the sweets and bear winners will be read out in the speeches and the winners (hopefully kids) get to keep them.

I am such a kid myself, very excited at the castle and the limbo!

We wanted to get married at 1.30-2pm, but when I phoned up the registrars office (10 months in advance!) they only had 2 slots left, 12.30 or 4pm, so we decided to go for 12.30 as that gives us a bit more of the day Smiley smile

    12.30 - Ceremony

    1pm - 3pm - Photographs and drinks reception

    3pm - 5.30pm - Sit down meal and speaches

    7pm - Evening guests arrive

7.30pm - First dance and cake cutting

    1300 church service (1.5hrs)

1530 reception drinks and canapés + photos

    1700 guest seated for dinner

    1900 speeches

2000 let's get the party started till midnight.

it going to be a long day unfortunately I had to opt for a church further away from venue than intended

We're also marrying at 1pm, early December, so for good light we need to be early.

We've also taken over the restaurant at our hotel venue, and 1pm means it can be returned to a restaurant for evening service, whilst we party away in our own reception rooms...

but most importantly, I will be a bag of nerves, and want to get past the nerves to the fun as early as we can....!!

We were restricted to 12 or 3 and we went for the early. We have to finish by midnight so wanted as much time as possibly we originally wanted 1pm.

I set my heart on 1.30-2pm but when I rang to book, they only had 12 & 4.30pm left! I booked the 12pm slot & then they rang me back to say I was too far away from the next venue & had to get married at 11.30am! I was upset so they agreed to 11.45am. I was bothered about getting married so early for ages but I've worked out a schedule for the day & I'm now happy. A work colleague who got married last month said today he wished they'd had the ceremony earlier than 2.30pm because the day just went too quickly. That comment has made me feel even happier about it.

We are getting married at 11am.

We had the choice between 11am and 2pm.
We chose 11am so we can have the full day - we are paying for it after all

5 pm; ceremony at a licensed Venue

    5.30 - 7.00 pm; drinks reception

7.00 pm; sit down evening meal

Gives me all day to panic/indulge/get ready!

4pm as that's the earliest the venue will allow and I fell in love with the place. Anywhere else I think it would have been 'deal breaker'. Ah well, I'm looking forward to spending time with my mum and bridesmaids in the morning Smiley smile

We are getting married at 2.30 - our venue advised 2 or 2.30 as the best times for things to flow but now worried it's a bit late reading these!!! We are in the same place for ceremony and reception though

My ceremony is at 2.00 which is was my venue recommend. I did try to book earlier though as wanted to enjoy the whole day. However registrar could only do 12.00 or 2.00. Went with the later 1
