what time for Tog?

MrsKHbutterfly, 8 September, 2014 at 09:45 Posted on Planning 0 10

Morning lovelies,

We had our pre-shoot with our tog yesterday and were just confirming final details and he asked me what time i would like him to arrive on the day. I have booked bridal prep, my hairdresser will be starting my hair about 9am and i'm getting married at 1.30pm so my question is.... what time do i want him to arrive as i really have no clue!!! :-/

Is it normal for him to arrive after i've had my hair done as i can see this being a bit boring for shots lol!!! oh and i'm doing my own make-up so theres no mua to work around?!?!

I would recommend about 2 hours before you are due to set off for the venue. 9.00am to me would be a bit too early. Since you are doing your own make up, a couple of hours before hand is more than enough to get those shots as well as the detail/dress shots.

Surely if you have booked him from Bridal Prep he should be there for that, including your hair?

Thank you Martin. I'm getting ready at the hotel, so would you say about 11am? so he's there before and after the dress goes on and for the end of the make-up?

I see what you're saying winterbride, but i suppose there's only so many grils dressed in PJs, hair half done, no make-up pics he can take? i know that i would prefer to at least have started to get ready when he arrives. I don't think he minds coming earlier, i think he was asking for my preference :-)

Yep that's right, the faces that you pull when you are putting on your own make up do not always make a good photo. I would say that 11 am would be fine so that they can get the finishing off of hair and makeup. You might want 1 "fun" one in curlers but that would be it. And then they will be there for some dress shots. I usually leave you to get that on an I will go and get some shots of Dad struggling with his cravat and then back to you when the dress is being done up and then I don't start until its is almost done as we don't want to see your pants !

Have a look here for a bit of an idea

Most togs with cover from the bridal prep to the first dance to cover everything but a reasonable amount of prep time is two hours before the ceremony.

Some do more, some do less but how much is actually needed will be down to how much is happening. Some want their privacy, others not so much.

I'm getting married at half 1, the car is arriving at 12:30, the tog will be with us between 11 and 12, if that helps Smiley smile

Ah now I'm going to have to disagree on the pants shots... Some brides are pretty keen to have the getting dressed bit covered in it's entirety too. You can get some lovely shots as long as it's all done discreetly/tastefully. Not for everyone though for sure!

I tend to arrive a few hours before, I prefer to have more time than less particularly if the bride is getting ready at the venue as this lets me wander around and capture the set up and all those details too. It really depends on what's going on in the morning and what you're comfortable with.

Hello hello, my photographer is dead keen. I think my hair is starting at 10am so the tog is getting there for 9.45?
