What time is everyone getting married??

BeccaBoop, 16 March, 2010 at 10:26 Posted on Planning 0 46

Hi all,

we have found our venue and I have just tried to book the registrar....typically they are pretty booked up, even though we are eighteen months in advance - the choice was either 12pm or 4pm - I thought 4pm was pretty late and the whole day would go by in a flash.....so I went for 12, but now worried that its too early. Will people get bored?? I am hoping that if we feed and water them enough it should be ok. What does everyone think?

Hi Becca, The same thing happened we had to move our date from the 16th to 2nd as there were no slots and we wanted to get married about 2pm but now were getting married at 12.30pm. I think you will be fine! and your guests will be fine too!

I think 12pm will be fine - most weddings I've been to start around the same sort of time. We're getting married at 2pm. Was originally going to be 2.30pm but like you say - no slots left! Ah well only half an hour difference!

We ar getting married at 2pm. I dont think 12 is too early, it gives people more time to have a good catch up (but less time for you to get ready in the morning ?

12 noon will be fine. Have readings to drag it out! Pics, meal, drinks it will fly by!

I dont think it's too early. We are getting married at 12.20 and sitting down at 3pm for food. I think as long as you have drinks and food available for people (as most will not have eaten since early on and 3pm is a very late lunch! people don't mind at all.

I'm only concerned about having enough time to get ready as venue is 45mins from my parents house where i'm getting ready!!

We're getting married at 2pm - I think 12 is fine though - just means you'll have to get up a bit earlier! I don't think it makes much difference for your guests - If they can make it down for a 2pm on the same day they can for a 12, and if they have to stay overnight they would have anyway iyswim

We wanted to do it at 12 but it will now be 130 to make sure I have enough time to get ready (hair and make up people only start at 10...). 12 should be fine for you, just make sure you will have enough time to get ready

Mine's at 12pm. There will be a gap in the day of around 2 hours so we're having that after the meal/speeches. This will give people time to check into their rooms, wander round the grounds or have a drink in the bar before the evening guests arrive at 7pm.

    i like that idea!

we're getting married at 2pm but we were lucky cos the chapel we've got has no other weddings that day (we're the only wedding there since 2006!) so we could choose our time & how long our service is.

I have booked the church for 12.30pm.

Because its a winter wedding, it gets dark earlier, and i dont want to be having the day reception in the dark.

But i think i probably would have chosen a similar time no matter what time of year it was so its fine

    I'm 2pm.

My Mum actually said the other day "what are we going to do all morning?"

So sounds like i'll be getting ready alone whilst her & my Dad go out for a hike or something. Parents! ?

If I were you I'd go for 12pm. Will make your day so much longer but just make sure that you will have enough time to get everybody ready in the morning and won't be too rushed.

    I'm getting married at 2pm.

3.30pm here in the middle of December so we're hoping it will be dark. Not bothered about it going by quickly but am a bit worried about getting decent photo's.

We're getting married at 3:45pm. it is a bit late but ours is more of a dinner/dance event and also wanted time to get ready etc - definitely NOT a morning person! hoping the summer sunshine will give us enough time to take some nice pcitures before 6, when the evening guests arrive for drinks (dinner for everyone at 7). 12 will be fine if you're eating at 2:30-3ish xx

Our ceremony was due to start at about 12.30 but actually started around 12.45 once the registrars had spoken to us (civil ceremony).

We had a winter wedding and the wedding breakfast started off light outside but ended up dark which was really pretty with all the candles!!

We're getting married at 1pm - was going to be 2pm, but decided we'd rather have that extra hour of the day rather than getting ready as I bet I'll be up really early anyway!

We are getting married at 12.30. Bugger everyone else, I wanted my day to start as early as possible and last as long as possible. I want a full 12 hours in my dress!!!

As for those travelling, they can always come the night before if they want a lie in!

I'm exactly the same as you Becca, I thought 15 months in advance would have been more than enough time! I'm not a morning person but I figure that I probably won't be able to sleep that much anyway that morning. Also if given more time to get ready I often just end up caking more make-up on!! I actually spent about 6 months phoning the registery office to check for cancellations to get a 2pm slot
