what to do next?

Jayne_3131, 25 April, 2012 at 16:53 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi everyone,

What should be next at the top of my priority of things to do? We are getting married in March next year. Heres what we have done so far.

Booked the venue (having the ceremony at the venue)

Giving notice tomorrow

Have my dress – just needs altering

Have the bridesmaid dresses ordered (ordered from America and mum bring them home in august)

Florist booked

Invitations I am making myself and have all the things I need to make them

Photographer is a bit of a tricky one as my partner knows a work friend who is a profession and said we should meet up in September and discuss.

I think it’s a little early to find a cake person yet?

i am considering just relaxing about things for a while at present!

Thanks in advance x

Sounds like you are ready to relax!

IF you want to keep doing stuff, maybe start thinking about table centrepieces (if not being done by florist) favours, and cute quirky things you might want to include in the wedding.

for eg I'm in the process of collecting glass bottles for my tabe centres, have researched my chair covers etc and just tieing lots of little bits together. This sort of thing can be done over time and can be changed and ideas fiddled with. but otherwise well done you and good luck with the rest of it :-)

I'm getting married next March too and have done everything you have but have also sorted my cake lady. That's just because I fell in love with her cakes at a wedding fayre so had to make sure I had her cakes for my big day! If I hadn't met her then I'd probably wait a while but it doesn't hurt to look around and see what sort of thing you're after Smiley smile Have you sorted any entertainment? x

Thanks jen, just out of interested what made you go for March? I keep changing my mind about cakes! First of all I wanted cupcakes with a smallish cake on top to cut, now im thinking of 3 tier cake. Not sorted out any entertainment, we are going to ask friends/ colleagues for recommendations for a dj. At a friends wedding after the ceremony they had a guy playing a guitar and singing but no one seemed to be taking much notice of him! So not sure what to go for.

Are you getting married in a church or civil ceremony? If Civil ceremony you need to book registrar too as well as give notice.

    We get married next April.

We have our meeting with the cake lady on Friday. I think it's never too early, I could only rest a little untill I knew I had my date secure with people.

Are you thinking of having a venue dresser, hairdresser, makeup artist, videographer or DJ/entertainment? I found the good ones get booked up really quick so I secured my date with them.

It's always good to know what you need/want and keep your eye out for good deals. I have got mine and the bridesmaids jewellry already, all of my accessories, my mums gift, groomsmen giftsand other fancy bits (I can't resist a bargain)

You have a lot sorted already well done,

As others have said, start looking for centrepiece bits and bobs, also, why not start thinking about thankyou gifts for the BM's etc?

We stock a great range of suitable gifts and all are engraveable with details you want - perhaps the date of the wedding and "thankyou for being Best Man" -

Also, we are currently running a competition on facebook. Every fortnight until the end of May we will be giving away a £20 voucher that can be spent on anything on our website. All people need to do to be in with a chance of winning is 'like' our facebook page. The page is https://www.facebook.com/pages/Engraving-Excellence-Beautiful-personalised-gifts-for-any-occasion/149150048487540. Two weeks from now one of our new fans will be selected to receive the first £20 voucher.

I'm having my three sisters as bm's. i want them all in knee length chiffon dresses. two in strapless and my moh (big sis) with a different style top as she has big boobs and strapless just dont do it for her!

the problem now is that I want them in a different colour each! and the colours are dusky blue - main colour

french cream and a soft rose red. lol not sure what jewellery or shoes they will be having but it will all match, so will hair and flowers of course!

where abouts do you live? i know a good hairdresser in London if you need one.
