What to eat the morning of?...

MrsCLDtobe, 30 March, 2015 at 14:40 Posted on Planning 0 29

Hi all!

My mum is now in full planning mode for the wedding day as we are well and truly under the 3 month mark now, and she's asked me what I want to eat the morning of the wedding...this hadn't even crossed my mind until now and I'm not sure what to have. I know this is a really strange questions, but what sort of things are other brides planning to have for breakfast?

Thanks

Probably nothing unusual. We will be staying at a hotel, so we will either have breakfast there or a local cafe. Our ceremony won't be till 4PM though, so I will also have lunch. I'd stay away from anything that could have adverse affects on digestion ? and maybe stick to something lighter (not a cooked breakfast maybe, haha)

I had breakfast in bed at the hotel - pastries, toast and jam, fruit and Bucks Fizz Smiley smile

Weirdly I was thinking about this this morning.

I think I'll ask Mum to pick up some pastries on her way to my place.

As we are starting off at my house, I am sending a BM to the Greggs round the corner to get some brekkie butties around 8am. NOMNOM!

However, as we dont wed until 2pm and the next time we'll have chance to eat is 4pm gone, I shall keep an eye on this post! I was initially going to just make up some sandwiches with sausage rolls etc for us to pick on, but we'll need to transport it to the venue so the less there is the better.

It is not a hotel venue but I may see if they can offer a few bowls of chips or something on the morning. or just champagne & strawberries! =)

I refused to allow anything smelly to be consumed! Haha, both breath wise, and smell on clothes wise, so bacon was out too. I wanted something decent as we weren't sitting down until 4, but not greasy or heavy, so I had scrambled egg on toast, and then a cereal bar just before I put my dress on, nothing at that point that will stick in your teeth or smell, you can't brush them as you have a full face of make up on!

Some great ideas there, thanks all.

Unfortunately I'm not someone who can go without breakfast- I become an angry beast! And the number of tips I've seen saying to make sure you eat something is too overwhelming to not listen to. I like the idea of pastries, and mum has already said she'll get some prosecco and raspberries in (my favourite bit!!)

Porridge is a pretty good option. Non smelly and filling.

Me too, MrsCLD, I would be a very hangry bride... Smiley winking Luckily I don't have a problem with not being able to eat when I'm stressed (unless I am really really busy, then I might forget) but with out wedding so late in the day, I doubt that will be a problem.

You'd probably want to stay away from anything if you're already in your dress, or eat something that is unlikely to stain like a (non-chocolate) granola bar.

I will have a fairly normal breakfast & lunch as I don't think I'll be getting in my dress until 2pm or so.

I get married in 12 days and am having the same dilemma! My wedding is 1.45pm and I'll be getting my dress on at about 12.45pm.

I am staying in a hotel the night before and was planning on having bacon and eggs (yummy) but not toast as I haven't been eating much bread in the last few months and don't want to blow up. I do think I'll need a nibble before the ceremony though - was thinking pastries but will those bloat me as well!? Had come up with cold meats, or fruit, but fruit seems a bit boring! I'd love mini sausage rolls but they probably aren't best in a clingy dress either......

On my sisters' wedding morning, she actually insisted on cooking us all bacon sandwiches and cups of tea saying it helped distract her and keep her calm. Im getting married at 10.30am so I will just be having my usual toast and then a bigger lunch.

I had two lattes. I brushed my teeth before the MUA left so she could touch up my lippy.

Have bacon and eggs for brekky and then chicken, salad, feta and balsamic for lunch. Yum.

I didn't eat lunch, but I had a bag of pretzels from the car journey up the day before so I ate some of those. In fact last week in Sainsbury's I picked up a bag of the same type and said romantically "ah, these remind me of our wedding day" Smiley smile

I had toast. Then nothing except a cup of tea until after the wedding. I'm a real foodie and expected to be hungry as our ceremony was at 1pm but even afterwards, I wasn't that bothered.

I had some of our buffet because it was there, but to be honest, I could have gone all day with nothing and not worried. I didn't even have any tea that night!!

I'm having pancakes. It is tradition that when my bridesmaid and I get together we always have them so why break tradition?

Thought it might make some fun photographs too.

All this talk of food is making me hungry!

I'll be having the breakfast delivered in a basket in bed.

Its a great question, and one that I don't think a lot of brides will consider.

This hadn't occurred to me at all, but I'm TOTALLY doing what ID said! Literally on the hotel website now seeing if I can pre-order! Our wedding is at midday so will have early breakky in bed with the missus before I turf her out and let the girls in at 8! Smiley smile

When i was moh for my best friend when shed got married, we got home from the hairdressers on the morning of the wedding to find one of her friends had been to the house while we were out and laid out an amazing spread of breakfasty finger food for us, mini pastries, salmon blinis, strawberries etc, so we could graze away on it all morning while we had our make up done. I'm planning on doing something similar too.

I hadn't thought about it, but luckily my Dad had. He donned his pinny and did a massive round of bacon butties for everyone, with champagne. Then my mum cracked open the Toblerone!

That's normally a Christmas Day tradition in our house, so it was lovely, it felt celebratory, yet familiar.

I had bacon butties on the morning of my wedding. I have since read though that I should have also had eggs as the protein is a form of non bloating way of filling myself, but I had a corset on already at that stage so the bloating had to wait until after the wedding was over.

I've already tasked my dad with picking up coffees and pastries from Carluccio's in the morning and delivering them to us Smiley winking I like the idea of scrambled egg on toast later in the morning if we need something a bit more filling (our ceremony is at 130pm). I know everyone says you won't want to eat, but i can't imagine that - i've never skipped a meal in my life!

I still think a Greggs at 7am with me gals at my house but later on at the venue I'm still not sure..... ceremony is 2pm, we get to the venue at 11am to finish getting ready.... hmm............. We have afternoon tea for the wedding breakfast so the ideal sandwiches & pastries would be too samey...... hm.......
