What to have for lunch???

cearstaidh, 23 January, 2014 at 15:25 Posted on Planning 0 9

I'm trying to figure out what I should have for lunch on the day of my wedding...

We're getting married about 4.30 and having stovies and cake at the reception at about 8.30. There will be nibbly bits between the ceremony and reception but I don't know how much of that we will see as that's when we're also getting photos done.

So I need something that will fill me up... but not give me a pasta belly....

Soup or salad won't be enough and it'd be good to have something quick and easy to prepare...

Any thoughts?

Where will you be? Are you going to be at the venue or at home? I will be at home for lunch before my ceremony and am planning to have smoked salmon and scrambled eggs to avoid the bloated tummy!

I would go for a chicken salad or an omelette, anything without carbs!

We'll be in a cottage that we rented. It has a small kitchen so we can do a bit of prep but nothing too fancy. I've heard protein is a good hunger supressor so eggs or chicken are decent ideas.

I'm planning on an omelette, some salad etc. I'll be too excited to eat properly before the wedding but hopefully I'll be able to manage an omelette.

Oh wow. I hadn't even thought about bloating so I'm glad someone posted this. I love omelette so I guess I'll go with that. Ironically I've recommended that our guests have lunch before our wedding but I've not really considered me!!

There's so much to think about!

Protein will fill you up, so perhaps a chicken or egg salad.

I thought I would be too excited to eat breakfast on the morning of our wedding, but I wolfed down a huge plate of scrambleg eggs, mushrooms, beans and toast at the hotel! Glad I did because I hardly ate anything else the rest of the day, apart from cake at 2am when we got back to the hotel!

What about ordering in a platter of sandwiches/wraps from a sandwich bar/deli for you all, no need to worry about cooking and dishes and no food smell in the house as I know omelettes stink!!!

I might be dumb but whats a stovie?

    is it like a stottie?

    or something completely different?

pasta is always filling or rice, personally I would avoid dairy based product or animal based products to reduce bloating, IBS or the risk of food poisoning (because thats my luck lol)

Stovies is a hearty scottish dish made with potatos and left over meat (sausages, corned beef or whatever)
