What to have for pudding?

Carbs79, 25 January, 2013 at 14:25 Posted on Planning 0 20

Hello all,

I’m getting married this May and we decided on sausage and mash for our wedding dinner but I really can’t decide on the dessert!

I’m conscious that sausage and mash is quite heavy and that potentially (although I seriously doubt it!) it might also be a warm day so I think something light would be a good plan but I’m lacking inspiration, I’m much more of a savoury person!

Rather than a formal starter we’re having canapés and drinks before dinner and for our evening do we’re having a cheese wedding cake, a ham, lots of fruit and crackers and we’ll be serving the wedding cake and cupcakes.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received!

    HI,

Ive chosen to have S & M as well, my OH loves it lol

The deserts that i was thinking of having is a trio of deserts (mini choc brownie, mini cheesecake and something fruity)

other ideas i have seen are

Profiteroes (not sure if this is the correct spelling)

apple pie and custard(to stick with the british food)

    ice cream sundaes

or a lemon cake with raspberry coulis

    hope this helps

    x

If you're having an informal starter would you also consider an informal dessert?

If so you could always opt for a dessert table. That way you can have a mix of things to cater for different tastes and people can choose for themselves what they'd like. I imagine everything on a dessert table would be cool/cold so you'd not have to worry about a stuffy warm dessert if it turned out to be a warm day.

I genuinely can't tell what food is supposed to be heavy/light so i'm afraid I can't help there Smiley sad
I think i'm just greedy- I can always find room for dessert ?

I think it depends what you like really, I personally am a big tart or cheesecake fan. They're very summery and light as well if you go fruit rather than chocolate

    This made me laugh:

I'd go old-school with trifle or jelly and ice cream or ice cream sundae. Keep it light. But I'm having an ice cream van so maybe I'm predisposed to shout for ice cream!

What about something like panna cotta - still feels kind of luxurious but isn't heavy. You could have it with a fruit coulis or something.

    APPLE PIE! :o)

Although not being eaten together, sausages & apple are complimentary!

How about Strawberries & Cream? Simple, light, delicious and very English to fit with the Sausage and Mash on the menu.
