What to wear in the morning?

lauren700, 16 March, 2011 at 22:06 Posted on Planning 0 18

I wanted to get the BM's and me something to wear in the morning when we are getting ready - obv thought of robes BUT we are going to a hairdressers for hair and make up so that doesnt seem appropriate.

Any ideas? Wedding is August so I considered some jersey maxi dresses which could then be taken off, dont know how to explain this, downwards? like trousers so you dont wreck hair/makeup ?

I am going 2 my work 2 have hair and make up done (salon in glasgow) and ive been thinking of us all getting showered putting on clean pjs and our personalised robes and going with them on, not so appropriate for any old client but i think it would make great photos and a laugh at the same time, ive worked there for 7 years so all the locals know me 2 so it wouldnt look 2 strange 2 them lol.

Hooded jackets or vest tops with large neck openings so you can still get it over your head easily.

What about dresses with a strapless boobtube type top that you could kust pull down so you haven't got to fanny with the straps?

I think I'm probably going to wear a loose fitting white shirt. I am staying over at the venue the night before though, so I don't want to come down to a posh breakfast wearing a hoodie.

I definitely think hoodies or vest tops are the way to go. I would love, love, love to get myself and my bridesmaids personalised vest tops but one of the girls would never wear one.

Sorry, I didn't phrase that very well. I'm sure they'd all wear something that said 'bridesmaid' or whatever, but one of my friends won't wear a vest top because she's worried about her size.

So far all I've thought of is that I'll go braless to avoid the strap lines on shoulder as strapless are too uncomfortable. No one will care I'm sure as long as I'm in something that can be taken off easily.

I was thinking of borrowing one if oh's shirts. Mind you, I don't have to go any where in it, just lolling around the Hotel room.

I'm going with the strapless maxi dress as I don't want any strap marks as my dress is strapless.

If your going out zip hoodies may be an idea - unzipping will mean less risk of hair getting ruined.

I made my own 'bride' vest top, with an iron on transfer and a Primark vest top! Cost about £5 rather than the £30 some places were charging! Flowergirls had pink jumpsuits with a 'flowergirl' transfer on the back which they also ate in during the wedding breakfast so as not to get food on their dresses!

Definately a strapless bra if your dress is strapless though!

We had our hair done at my house so wore vest tops & joggers & then travelled to the hotel in these & changed into fluffy robes provided by the hotel.

Sorry if this is a really old post, but so if others search and find it (like i did), i wanted to post this here.

Im thinking of getting these for the bridesmaids (and me and motb) for the morning while getting ready.

they are so beautiful, and ive emailed them and they also do them customised with bridesmaid's names if you want! Super cute!

would be great for hen doos too!

Hi Lauren, it's great that you're actually thinking about this! Everybody loves the getting ready photos, until the photographer grabs their camera and everyone freaks out because they're only in their PJs! Your wedding dress and the bridesmaid's dresses will be one of the last things to go on before leaving for the ceremony... decreasing something happening to them. If you're all wearing something that you're comfortable in front of the camera in, your photographer is going to have a much greater change of catching the atmosphere!
