What to write on a thank you card when a guest gives you money as a gift?

missdeedee, 16 May, 2010 at 16:34 Posted on Planning 0 10

Im a bit stuck what to write, I don't want to put thank you for the money, but I wouldn't write present, do I just write thank you for the gift? I know it's a gift of money, but does that sound right?

TIA

I agree with the ladies above. A simple 'Thank for spending our Wedding Day with us, and many thanks for the gift. We plan to buy...'

Thanks ladies, next dilema, we don't have anything specific in mind to put it towards, we are hoping to move house and get what we need with it then, so suggestions how to word that?

Then you DO have an intention!

Thank you so much for your gift. As we are planning to buy our first new home together shortly, we are looking forward to putting it towards a new suite/garden furntiture/bog roll dispenser.

    many thanks once again

    deedee.

Ha ha @ bog roll dispenser!! But i agree with what all the others have said 'thank you for making out wedding day extra special and thank you for the gift which will be put to good use when we buy our new house together as husband and wife'

What about "Thank-you for your very generous gift. It will be very useful as we set up home."

I like this. We have already sent a thankyou card out as h2b's boss of department gave us the money to pay for our honeymoon. We worded it as 'a very kind and generous gift'

Its the wee saying i used to thank the people who gave us engagement gifts. For those who bought pic frames or candles etc it was... "It will take pride of place when we set up home"

I think its best to keep it simple and say it as it is...in a nice way though!!
