At secondary school......

I was never a brain box, was in the middle classes for everything apart from French was in the top class for that ? I wasn't a swot but I never got into trouble I kept my head down and just got on with it. I hung around with a popular group but not the most popular as those were the girls that would have a nicotine lunch every day and wear make up. I actually enjoyed school, apart from the occasional taunts for being ginger all by boys of course, they can be nasty buggers. I had one fight, becuse my sister was a target for being bullied so I would stick up for her but this one day the girl I pulled up pushed me, so I kicked her ass and called Mrs Fox our RE teacher a fat cow when she tried to pull me back and she grabbed my hair!

So what were you like?

This sounds just like me. Apart from the head girl thing, I never expected to be made head girl as you had to be popular for that and I was far too quiet.

I also never drank or really went out until I went to university. Even then I would have never let it affect my studies, I had put so much effort into getting there I wasn't going to waste it. I don't think I missed more than 2 lectures in the whole 5 years of my course, I was there at 9 am every morning.

I went to a posh grammar school but was pretty average. Not one of the uber boffins but did well. TBH even the least clever people were still pretty brainy as you had to meet criteria to get in. I was friends with most people. I was a sporty chic and non uniform day was a kappa tracksuit fest.

I was in set one out of 7 for everything except maths (set 3). I was naughty but more in a mischievious way than being horrible to anyone. My report often read" VP must beware of complacency. her place in set 1 is not hers by right and intelligence is not a substitute for hard work" I got the giggles, swore, couldn't shut up got sent out of class etc etc. I royally peed my teachers off as I went to an all girls catholice svhool run by nuns. I loved drama, and decided it was ridiculous that the male parts in our plays were played by girls. So I went and joined the boys school over the Rd's musical company. I was in their annual play not ours for 3 years. There was outrage!! I was popular but not in with the really cool ones as they were mainly bullies.

I started off ok, doing well etc but got bullied and ended up not working as hard (to stop drawing attention to myself by getting correct answers) and towards the end of my years there, I bunked off something chronic. I faked notes from my mum to get me out of PE (once for 6 weeks as I said I had cracked my ribs).

Hated school, I never go to any reunions and on the rare occasion I spot someone I was at school with about town, I turn the other way or dive into a shop until they pass.
