What type of veil with my dress? *flash*

Larkie08, 20 January, 2012 at 18:54 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi

I was wondering if you lovely ladies can give me some ideas as to what length of veil to wear with my dress. I tried on an elbow length one that came round my shoulders but i don't think that suited me so I am imagining a long veil that hangs down the back and doesn't come round my face and shoulders. I fancy and cathedral length veil but not sure that that length would really go with this dress...Opinions please!! x

I would go fingertip, maybe elbow - I would think Cathedral might look weird and lose some of the swirl at the back (which I Love) - but worth a try on if thats what you want, i have been known to be wrong Smiley smile

Think over the shoulders or behind is personal preference/style

I always wanted a super-long veil but it didn't really work with my dress and I also wanted a blusher and didn't like the look of a blusher and a cathedral veil together so am having an elbow length veil.

How are you planning to wear your hair? I think if you have it all up as in the picture, you could have a really nice cathedral veil that is tucked up with it and just hangs down your back. Since you don't want it around your shoulders and face that would be fine. And as long as it is sheer enough, it won't obscure the dress.

You could also do just a large flower or birdcage style veil but if you want cathedral length do it!

I'm starting to wonder if I should change mine Smiley smile

Thanks for all your replies- I think you might be right about a long veil covering up the detail on the back and bottom of the dress. I definitely think something simple as the dress does have lots of little details on it that I don want to detract from.

I can't decide about my hair... Will probably go for half up, depends how muh more it grows in the next six months!

I would ask the shop to let you try on all the different lengths as it is pretty much personal choice, I can visualise a cathedral length one with it in my mind if it is just at the back, but it may look completely different IRL

I've got a similar shaped dress (and wearing hair half up) and have gone for elbow length veil with a scalloped edge and diamantés along the edge. With your dress I'd definitely go for something with a little sparkle to tie it all together. I agree with the others that cathedral length would hide the dress detail.

Hi all - this is my first post so I'm very sorry if I haven't posted it correctly. My dress is Rosetta Nicolini 'Emanuelle' from Berketex (I can't post a picture - not that technologically advanced yet!) but I'm struggling to find a suitable veil. Can anyone offer advice - preferably with internet links to photographs.

Thanks everyone, and congratulations to you all. It's so exciting to be engaged and preparing for marriage!! ?

I have more or less the same dress!! I have the Maggie Sottero Brianna, and this looks to me like the Adorea?! (or spelt similar to that), and i am going for a fingertip veil, so i sits just on my bum so that you can still see the turn in the train. Also going for Diamond White with cyrstal edging.
