What Veil to wear with THE Dress.... groom wants a veil.. but can't work out which suits it!

Xanthebd, 7 April, 2013 at 13:15 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hello All

After much lurking, i now have a dilemma that needs forum help!

So i have bought the dress.... at the BEST shop ever... Miss Bush in Ripley.. seriously they make you feel like magic, so nice... Corinne is the best!

Tara Keely 2161 and not wearing the black belt.. instead having a long sleeved lace bolero on top. It is one that goes on backwards.. so the buttons are on the back, matching the low back of the dress... as i want to cover my arms a little.

I tried a long veil.. which as i am being a little princess about it.. loved but feel maybe in my village church in Surrey may not suit !( also v pricey so looking for second hand ones!)

Please any ideas... most appreciated... a 2 tier.... WHAT length!! Lace edged? or plain?I am NOT a glitter, diamonte or anything like that person!

http://www.missbushbridalblog.co.uk/2013/02/page/3/ this dress... but i am having a low bun, with loose curls... not this style as not me! as i want 2 tier...!

panic!

Wow, your dress is gorgeous!! I love it!!

I've been looking at veils on Etsy as there's so many options with different styles. You may find something on there that's affordable http://www.etsy.com/search/handmade/weddings?q=veil&view_type=gallery&ship_to=GB

Firstly, as much as you think your groom wants you to wear a veil, he won't notice if you don't on the day, and if he does, he'll still think you look beautiful.

your dress is slightly similar to mine, although mine has no train, I'll also be wearing a lace bolero.

i was originally going to get a plain, chapel length, two tier veil from wedding veils direct only - worked out about £50. Might be worth looking there.

The more I see brides who've worn my dress, with the matching lace edged veil, the more I want that. Luckily, I was given a bit of a bonus from work, so I'm getting a £275 veil...which is a silly amount of money for essentially a bit of net curtain. But it's a blooming pretty bit of net curtain!

Do you have a pic of the long veil you liked? And how long is long? Personally I prefer plain cut edge - but with your lace bolero, lace would be nice too. I think for a dress like that (gorgeous, so floaty!) I would go for at least elbow length. Any chance you could go back and try the dress on with different length veils?

You can also get long veils which have a shorter blusher - bit like this: http://www.angela-vickers.co.uk/Accessories/Buy-Accessories-On-line/Veils/Heavy-Lace-Veil

Good point.. i am going for a fitting in May.. so i will try on more veils.. i was a litttttle overexcited last time!

It was a richard designs... Lace Wedding Veil C368C ...
    http://www.richard-designs.com/veils-shop.html £495.. way too much...

THe dress is a darker ivory that the norm.. so i worry about getting a veil from USA .. but they are so much cheaper!

I rather like the veil idea..i had not considered it before and now i have tried i do want something.

I like the look of middleton the whole draped over head not all fluffy and bunched... is that 1 or 2 tier?

I think Kate wore a 'drop veil', which is what I am having. It is a single tier with no comb attached so you have it as short or long in the front as you like. It literally just drapes over your head, and you attach it with pins so it doesn't slide off. No idea on price for a long one though.

Yes, they are absolutely gorgeous. I'm not a fan of the puffy tulle ones either! Would look fab with your dress too. Good luck! x

I had a massive two layer "puffy tulle" one, very plain, just lots of it. It was fabulous! (I made it myself - very easy - for hardly any £)

Oh wow, it sounds like your dress will end up being slightly similar to mine (tulle skirt, natural waist, sweetheart neckline, with backward lace bolero over top - but my lace is coloured and I'm having a burgundy sash, so just the same shape).

I looked at tulle birdcage veils, and they looked great with this style. Something like this:

But I equally think a plain cathedral length veil would suit: http://www.etsy.com/listing/125098920/kate-simple-cathedral-length-veil?ref=sr_gallery_5&ga_search_query=cathedral+veil&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=GB&ga_locationQuery=2635167&ga_search_type=all&ga_facet=cathedral+veil
