As in with no adult/parental supervision?

A friend has just put up pictures of the holiday we went on when we finished high school. We were all 17, apart from one girl who was 18 and bought all the booze, and it was our first trip away without parents. We stayed in a caravan park and there were a bunch of other teenagers there for schoolies' week as well. I remember there being about 50 kids on the beach at night all drinking, sitting around bonfires and generally having a great time. We'd got the train down and back and we all thought we were so grown up.

I am sure the sight of 50 teenagers on a beach now would have me running in the other direction ?

What was your first "adult" holiday? I don't even know if "schoolies' week" is a thing here, or whether it's different because you finish school at 16 here and then choose to continue...

Age 16 went off with a group of 4 girlfriends to Butlins in Bognor Regis for a week. Had a great time getting drunk and being silly.

The next year 4 of us went off to Playa De Las Americas in Tenerife for our first girls holiday abraod. Had a fab time (and that is all I will divulge ?)

After that we went on a girls holiday every year until I was 23 when I went off travelling around the world with Lord Vixen

5 of us (mixed) went to my parents' caravan on the Gower for a week after A levels. We lived on pasta and minced beef and drank loads of alcohol on the beach; and went to see Jurassic Park in the cinema ?.

A week in Newquay with 5 friends. We had a fab time (except one of the girls spent the whole week whinging that she had her period!).

I remember meeting many many men that week. Nothing too heavy but I enjoyed the week. I remember one guy looking very much like Dr Green of ER (who I loved!). We ended up on the beach (with a large group of people) enjoying the night then the sunrise the next morning... I think we were all dressed as the spice girls that night (don't ask!). I was ginger (dyed my hair that morning especially in the dodgy b&b!) in the tinyest dress I owned. I ended up the night/morning spraining my knee on the beach and having to be carried up to our b&b.

Was a good week. Ah, memories..

Lourdes in 96, 98 and 99 when I was 16, 18 and 19. It was a part of a self set up youth group with no adult leaders. I think the oldest was about 30. I've never seen so much booze, singing and partying in my life. ? Faaaaar far away from the image of Lourdes. We were so raucous one night that a barman was sent upstairs to supervise us.

We worked bloody hard every day for a week, looking after sick people, for 10 hours a day, starting at 6am every other day for seven days (which we paid £500 to do) but partied even harder at night. Exhausting but amazing. An Irish group was always there at the same time, they had a 12am curfew and adult leaders, they constantly envied us. ? Lourdes is an amazing place and we were all obviously there for the religious and working side of things, which is amazing and so emotional but once we left the grotto gates, it's a different place.

We would then go to San Sebastian or La Rochelle for a long weekend to recover from the past 7 days of literally almost no sleep. More booze and raucousness too, obviously. I was racous on Coca Cola and Orangina but still had fun!

"Blotto in the grotto, with a stella in your hand..." Fab. ?

PS, our mothers all thought we were tucked up in bed after the candlelit procession, saying a decade of the rosary before going to sleep. ?

Glastonbury when I was 16 I think. Then Pheonix Festival when I was 18 and interrailing when I was 19. I've never been on a girly holiday either - not really my thing.

It was for my 21st birthday, i went with 5 girls to magaluf. Absolutely fantastic time, although we only went for 1 week and i spent the 2nd day throwing my guts up in a right state, not sure if it was the amount of alcohol or the dodgy fag that i might have pinched off some random man. After that though i had a wonderful holiday.

I must have lived quite a sheltered life to have waited until my 21st.

My first proper holiday abroad with no adults or family was when I was 18. A girlfriend and I went to Kos. It was fcuking fantastic. 2 weeks of sun, sea, sand, sex, sex, sex and a lotta booze.

    Fan-fcuking-tastic.

I love girly holidays, I still try to go away with the girls once or twice a year now.
