This is my favourite of yours Mrs C. So full of lovely anticipation and great to see your OH looking so happy and at ease just before it all kicks off.

I know what mine will be.

It'll be living a moment my late grandfather wrote about in his memoirs a few years back.

“I don’t know why it is but a woman looks her finest on her wedding day, she positively glows, - whereas the groom apart from the silly grin on his face, looks the same. The thing I remember is standing at the altar, with brother George as best man, and hearing the rustle of a wedding gown and the footsteps of my future wife – and life – coming closer to stand by my side.”

Indeed, and I plan to use it in my speech. It's just a shame that they're no longer with us to enjoy the moment.

But they'll be there in spirit, I know.

Theirs was the first peacetime wedding in Axminster after the end of the war, 25th August 1945.

Wow aj, that is very poignant.

My favourite photo from my first wedding was one of me and some guests holding balloons outside in the hotel's garden. Sounds naff but it's a beautiful photo.

I don't know what it'll be this time but knowing me it'll probably be some of the architecture ?

I had a few 'magical' moments but they dont have photos to show them, like when I got up the red carpet to H he grabbed my hand then kissed me straight away, everyoneone was like 'oooh you cant do that till the end' and the next morning when I turned my phone on I had a text that just said 'I love you' from H from when he was waiting at the venue for me to arrive!

H told me he was just thanking people in his speech and that was it, I totaly wasn't expecting it but he gave the most amazing speech and made EVERYONE cry!! Then our son got up and made us all cry again but unfortunatley dont have a pic of that!! xx

He wrote out his first 40 years and gave all of us a personally signed copy, which I treasure. It's great reading particularly during the wartime era when their house got a direct hit from a German bomb, and he ended up relocating from Peckham to Devon with his work, where he met my grandmother. Curiously enough, my mum's sister came to London and ended up marrying someone who went to the school that grandad and his family took shelter in after the bomb hit, and I'm now living about 5 miles away from there. Small world, isn't it?

I'll add in his bit about their 'first date', just to complete the story.

"I had been at the receiving end of a few shy smiles from one – Myrtle Goad – when passing her in the town or factory. Myrtle was a very good looking and photogenic young woman (I have photo albums to prove it).

On St Valentines Day in 1943 there was a ‘ticket only’ dance at the Guildhall. I heard Myrtle Had bought one so I did the same. It would mean making a lame excuse to start my shift at 10pm instead of 8pm.

Entered the Guildhall at 8 o’clock, the band was playing but the floor was empty. On the opposite side sitting alone was Myrtle – looking gorgeous in a long blue taffeta dress with a cross over lace collar. I reckoned the odds of an acceptance were 2 to 1 against, it would either be “I’m waiting for a friend” or “clear off!”.

Thinking “Hey I fancy you something chronic” I crossed the hall and asked. We danced – and in a sense that dance had lasted to this day. Myrtle was on a 10 o’clock curfew from her widowed mother, besides she had to start work at 6 o’clock the next morning.

With every intention of sweeping Miss Gorgeous off her feet – I bought a bag of chips between us on the way home. She was obviously impressed because we arranged to meet again soon, - like the very next day – and except for medical emergencies have never been a day apart since."

I have a few favourites moments from our wedding, and they were captured beautifully by the lovely Nicola @ Daffodilwaves photography.

    1) My locket I have been passed down from my Grandads sister. The picture is there is my Dad's Mum and Dad as youngsters. Sadly they are no longer with us, but I wanted them to be with me on my Big day.

    2) Having a bit of time with Matt after becoming Husband and Wife, walking down to our marquee from the church

    3) And two of my favourite photos of us together

    And Nicola's favourite:

It must be wonderful to have memoirs from a grand parent, the chance to learn so much about them!!

Im going to be cheeky and go for 2 as well! (to be fair, on your wedding day, you have hundreds!)

the first one is when we went out for photos after the ceremony, this is probably one of the first moments we had just the 2 of us. i have no idea why we are laughing but i love it, and the fact that we seem to be holding each others hand so tightly!

this one is during our first dance, I was expecting a 'hug n shuffle' but H suprised me with a few twirls and dips! just think we look so happy here, we used it on our than you cards!
