What wedding stuff have you achieved this week?

Omgitshappening, 28 April, 2013 at 10:02 Posted on Planning 0 16

Momentum is really building up in our house, with just over four weeks to go to our big day. We are running around with butterflies in our tummies - very excited!

anyway was wondering what things you ladies have done wedding wise this week? Thought it might help those of us who have not got long to go and those who are still enjoying the planning stage.

This week we have:

chosen and booked the suits

paid the pphotographer

paid the chair covers ccompany

had a meeting. With the disco company and paid them

Silk flowers wer paid for the other week - Brenda from Rainbow sending them so they will be here Thursday - can't wait, from the pictures they look stunning - seriously talented lady!

Dress fitting for alterations. The shop can't alter the top of my dress as much as I would like, was straight across and I would like it as a sweetheart. They say due to the padding it can't be changed very much. However dressmaker who is altering the bridesmaids dresses recons she can do it yay showed her a picture from the fitting the other day and she said the bolero not fitting me very well either and she can sort it out! I have known her for years and she's very experienced so have complete faith in her. So pick my dress up on 15th and have an appointment with her on 16th - wedding on 28th.

bridesmaids dress fitting, they have small trains so just having ties put in to bustle them up then all done.

just have Venue (keep asking for invoice but slow in coming) suits, table centres and cars left to pay for :-) - not received invoices yet though.

So busy week wedding wise, what have you achieved?

I haven't personally done much, but yesterday I tagged along with the boys to go to moss bros for the groomsmen to pick out their tuxedos. I wanted to give no input, but apparently I was the only one who knew what notch or peak lapels were. And they are men. Who wear suits to work every day. Wow. In the end they chose the tux that looked best on both of the guys we had there, and I'm now a teensy bit worried they will look better than Ant (groom) in his tux ? Haha, not really. It was fun to go along to something without feeling like I was responsible for it. First week of may will have far more for me: dress fitting, hair and make up trial, and final venue meeting!

*not my wedding, but I am planning my Mum and Dads wedding for them*

Finished the button holes for Groom and BM. Started on the ones for pageboys.

Booked my Mum in for hair, tan and nails.

    Bought shrugs for the bridesmaids.

    Ordered pageboys thank you gifts.

Found a reading for the ceremony.

And as my Dad is not romantic at all, I got my Mum a nice watch for him to give her, to wear on the day.

You have all been busy! I have done very little apart from researching venues for our wedding party and researching wedding rings. It is well over a year until we get married so l have lots of time yet.

This isn't strictly the last week but:

Invite card and paper arrived but have ordered it the wrong way up so now need to send it back so they will swap it for me.

Can't get the PDF of the invite to print out A5 size so my sister is going to email me instructions.

Begun looking at presents for FOB, BMs and OH. I think we'll get our mothers a fruit tree or something long lasting for their gardens.

Decided to buy BMs earrings, a photo frame (for a photo from the wedding) and something else. Also found brilliant laser cut 'thank you for being my bridesmaid tags' in wood which will be a keepsake.

Ordered the solar fairy lights for the garden.

OH has been to the jeweller with his mum to get his dad's wedding ring changed for him and there will be some leftover which his mum is going to hang on a chain around her neck.

Meeting with MOG's friend who will arrange flowers about what I want and how many flowers we need.

I don't enjoy wedding planning so everything takes me ages.

We've had a super productive weekend and I'm on such a high from it right now. Our wedding venue hosted a wedding fayre today so we've visited the local church and met the priest and then booked: photographer, ceilidh band, florist, piper and car. It was so exciting being back at the venue with just over a year to go and we've indulged in plenty of free glasses of fizz and samples of wedding cake and ice cream. Earlier this week I decided on my dress (major decision) and yesterday we first started to think about rings. It's all becoming so real.

Not done much wedding stuff this week because I started a new job on Monday and have had a cold all week!

I have ordered a few things though that should be winging their way to me; fabric and other supplies for the alterations I want to do to my dress and my CBM dress.

Also a few things have arrived this week including the card for making invitations and name-cards on the favour bags and rubber stamps for said bags.

Bit of a quiet week until Friday when my wages burnt a hole in my pocket as soon as they hit my bank account!

    Bought wedding rings

went suit hire "shopping" to get ideas of what H2B wants

added a million more items to my ebay watch list. How many favours and table decorations do I actually need??!!

inadvertently bought 80 mdf hearts from ebay instead of adding them to my watch list! Yes, I even managed to click commit to buy in auto pilot

ordered more save the date cards because I miscalculated when I ordered the first lot

and that's about it apart from looking at veils and flowers for hours on end!.... oh, and honeymoons!

Looked at tartan for the guys. Honestly, we're in that lovely can't-do-much period.

I've done flower research. Thinking I'd like the bouquets to be all edible plants, but might just be going a bit mental.

This last week or so has been all about shoes! I went to Birmingham with some of my bridesmaids & the shoes I had my eye on were a let down! They found some shoes they liked so it wasn't all in vain. I then spent a few days scouring the net & have found some on an American site I'm going to order. They're totally different to what I had in mind originally!

My head is absolutely full of stuff to do but I haven't got round to updating my 'to do' list or doing any of it! I'm seeing my florist on Tuesday to go through things again. She's also doing my chair covers & some decoration.

I really need to post/give out some more invites! I have 4 months & 3 weeks to go.

Oh my friend has given me her veil & tiara but I'm not totally sure they'll go with my dress until it arrives. 2 weeks to go for that!
