What would be your ultimate job?

Ashke, 21 January, 2009 at 11:36 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 56

Can you tell I'm bored this morning ?

So what would be your ultimate job? No restrictions apply (money, location etc) all totally hypothetical (is that spelt right?)

We were discussing this last week before the shop shut and one of my colleagues would be an Astronaut. Mine would be PA to Stephen Fry.

So spill the beans and share.

J

Writer for Private Eye! Oh, I'd love it so! I even have some ideas for columns all worked out. Or a daytime TV presenter - I'd happily take over from Fern.

IRL - I'd settle for a permanent contract!

I would be a radio presenter! I would love this, actually if I could i would be successful chart singer - I love singing, it makes me very happy - but i cant sing in tune lol I like the idea of doing a tour, being on the stage at wembley and sining to thousands who know the lyrics to the songs that I wrote! My idea of heaven but will be happy with radio presenter, as I love to talk and I love music lol

I would love to be an event organiser! Have always fancied it but never taken the plunge as I work in finance just now and the career change scares me! Plus I dont think Ive seen that many vacancies for event organisers in Scotland!

I already have it (palaeontologist). The main change I would make would be to make it permanent. I'd quite like to go on a dinosaur dig too, no chance of that happening any time soon though (I'm about to start a new contract working on teeny tiny invertebrates) ?

A documentry photographer - war zones etc. I love the idea of capturing a unique moment that says so much. Obviously because this is a fantasy I would have lots of cool kit, and would never get blown up ?

I wanted to be an Astronaut when I was a child. I was going to learn Russian so that I could join their space program.

I'd be a CSI. But only if it was like the tv show and I could use all of those wonderful gadgets that wouldn't work in reality, swish my hair around all day without contaminating the crime scene and work with Grissom.

Assuming they'd match my current salary, I happily turn my back on science to become the person that helps Lillia and Ola in and out of their costumes on Strictly Come Dancing.

I would love to run a dog groomers/boarding facility and possibly also a horse riding school!!

My friend has a lovely big house on 2 acre plot and she runs a boarding facility for dogs (my girls go there for their holidays) except the dogs are not kept in kennels, they have an extension on the house known as the doggie room where the dogs eat/sleep and then get to run around the gardens all day, its doggie heaven!!?

I would also love to be a vet or run a rscue facitility for dogs (though I'm not sure if I could handle seeing the abuse).

Oh and I'd love to be able to go back to my old job of cabin crew, but the hours etc don't suit my family lifestlye anymore☹️ perhaps when the children are older?

Finally I'd also love to be a primary school teacher, which out of the list given above, is probably the most achievable, with a little bit of study etc.

Sorry, did you only want one???

I would like my current job (academic psychologist) but without any pesky undergrads to teach. In fact I have my dream job for 3 months every summer - I'm pretty lucky!

I would be a well known, very successful food critic, and get to travel the world and eat (for free) in all the nice restaurants. The vast amounts of money I make will help fund the animal sanctuary i run at home, which is left in good hands when I go travelling the world.

That was my first thought*, or PA to Michael Palin, but I fear I would spend too much time gazing in admiration at them and hanging on their every bon mot that I wouldn't get any work done.

Sadly most lighthouses are now automated as lighthouse keeper would suit me down to the ground. I am part hermit, after all. Or travel writer. I've never tried writing, or done much travelling either in the grand scheme of things, but somehow that seems a pleasant way to spend one's time.

*actually, dresser to George Clooney was the first ?

Well pilot obviously, but I can`t wait to be cabin crew again. Would like to be a travel writer too. I`m thinking about writing some short articles about some of the new destinations I`ll be visiting then see whether or not someone like Lonely Planet could use them!

Designing exhibits at the Science Museum. i did once have an interview for that very job, but didn't have enough project management experience, and it was only a short-term contract.
