Every group dances to something different. I can play CCR - bad moon rising one night and it fills the dance floor and the next night it could bomb. If you and OH haven't got any definite preferences, just ask your DJ to play a mixture and what he'll do is play from various genres to judge whats going to work with your guests. Either beforehand or on the night, your guests could request some tunes.

I often say to my brides that the opportunity is there to submit a playlist, or if they they have a clear idea of what they want they can prescribe the genres, but if its going to cause headaches.......leave it to me. I also put request slips on tables for guests which encourages them to choose their favourite tunes.

Probably! Alex has asked everyone for their 3 favourite dance tunes so she can compile a list ready for the DJ. If I gave her my list, she probably won't know many LOL! Although she was brought up with Abba, The Nolans, The Bee Gees and Motown Classics playing in the background! She made me laugh not long ago... she says everyone knows the words to The Nolans songs and Abba songs as soon as they emerge from the womb ?

Ha ha - whenever we go to family do's, people always ask my daughter if I've had one too many! She laughs and tells them that I don't drink (which I don't - don't like the taste of alchohol at all- yuk!) but I'm always like that on the dancefloor! I used to be a dancer when I was in my teens. I used to dance in a cage on the stage at a nightclub in Wakefield (Wakefield Mecca for anyone who remembers it) I worked there for 4 years as a "go-go dancer" My daughter told her teacher at school once that Mum used to be a pole dancer ?

Considering Mamma mia was our 1st date well it gotta have a wee part somewhere, "he took a chance on me" and all that - now of only it was a rich mans world!! ?

We've been considering this tonight too. A few we've come up with are:

    • Beyonce - Deja Vu
    • Rod Stewart - Maggie May
    • Justin Timberlake - Sexy Back
    • Kings of Leon - Sex on Fire
    • John Legend ft Andre 3000 - Green Light

    • Usher - Pop Ya Collar (this is one of my dad's favourite songs ? )
    • Chaka Khan - Feel For You

    • Don't stop me now
    • Anything reggae based (grew up with mum playing UB40!)
    • Nineties dance a la You've got the love, Dreamer etc
