what would you do re:invites

mrs o-), 12 April, 2013 at 09:58 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hope you dont mind me posting this but need you opinions,

End of january i went to see a lady about quotes on invitations, told her dates names ect,

She offered to do me a sample and post it on to me, great as her work she showed me was fab ,then heard nothing till 4 days ago.

As it had been so long i looked else where an decided to go with another company, then samples came through my door (hand delivered) from first lady.

I must admit they were great but too late as we get married in august and second company av already stared invites,so cant cancel.

Then yesterday morning i got a phone call from first invite lady asking if i liked them and did i want them ,i told her we had gone with another company as it took her too long to get back to me , she then said i had to drop the samples back to her as she uses them for show, ok not a problem.

This is the problem :on the said sample invites it has our names ,dates, venus, times, home address, home phone numbers, and mobile numbers for the rspv oh and email address, this sample she is going to show other people .

how would you feel about this ,also i never asked for the sample to show all information.

Absolutely no freaking way. Are the details printed on an insert that you could carefully remove before returning? If so, this is what I would do. If they are printed onto the body of the invitation, I would flat out refuse, to be honest. It's a sample and any invitation supplier should be prepared to lose a few (if not all) of them.

I would email or write to her and say you will return them on the condition that all of your personal details are removed.

Just make sure you get everything in writing.

As others have said, I would if all personal information was removed!

If information is on an insert and removable, do it then give her them back

To be honest though, as a business giving out sample that don't get returned is one of these things. If she had generic samples she could have said that she'd lend you them, but if it's one that is personalised, once it had the indiviual details own, I'd consider it the property of the customer.

Did you pay for the sample?

I would NEVER ask for samples back. That is just a cheek!!! I would say that because it has your information on that you wouldn't be comfortable for her to show it to other possible clients.

Wow that's so cheeky! She has no right to show anyone else your personal details and to top it all off she took ages to get back to you!

Wow, no way would I give her those back with the details on to show other people. Maybe if you were actually going with her as a supplier.

The information is printed on the front of the night invitation so cant remove that ,the day invite is booklet type so only printed on 2 pages, but main page has all dates our names times venues ect.

I wouldnt mind, but she offered to send me the samples and didnt ask for a fee as i would have paid one .

If she had sent then sooner we would have had the invites as they were nice and what i was looking for( a bit pricey).

But it took her 3 months to send them(1 day invite and 1 night invite) and i was thinking what would happen if she had to make 40 day invited and 60 night invites how long would that take.

When she said she would send a sample i did not expect it to have real info on them ie (names yes but maybe 10, zoo lane for addy ect).

Also forgot to add the the shop is only round the corner from my home ,and she sells other items like a gift shop ,so any tom, dick or harry could see them and know where my street is ,also they would have information that no one would be at home on that date as well .

Absolutely not then, what is this lady thinking!!! I would get a permanent marker and black out all my details, then return them! She'll have to make some other samples to show potential customers, hopefully it won't take her 3 months this time.

Fully agree with everyone on here. She has some cheek to demand them back especially after personalising them for you. I've made invities for friends and shown them sampls but I would always use Mr. & Mrs Bloggs & invent fictional names. It's not very professional of her to do this. I would black marker the personal details & send them back. I wouldn't even bother offering her an explanation!

I would not bother sending them back at all. If she calls, tell her you will put them in the post then block her number. Crazy woman.
