What would you have from this menu....? Update

Oompa-Loompa, 1 August, 2009 at 10:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 18

We are off out to a fabulous sea food / fish restaurant tonight and I have been perving over the menu for ages but still can't decide what I'm going to have - I want it all!

What would you have? The only given is that I will be having the cheeseboard for pudding!

Update!

Well we had an amazing night. The food was just amazing and the service was brilliant.

In the end I went for the scalops to start with. They were dressed with a garlic and chilli sauce and they were cooked to perfection. My H had the mussles which were also stunning. The best starter on our table was a special that my friend had. It was a goats cheese and basil savoury creme brulee. It was divine!

For main I had the crab gratin which again was just beautiful. My H had the Halibut which was fantastic. All served with loads of veg, potatoes and french fries.

We had a selection of deserts but the nicest one was a ginger creme brulee. I had the cheese and biscuits which I managed to find a bit of room for!

Oyster Bay was the wine of choice for the evening.

An added bonus was the bill at the end. For 6 of us we were expecting it to be over £300 as the wine was £20 a bottle and we had 3, plus a few other individual drinks. It came to about £220! Bargain.

If anyone is in the Poole / Bournemouth area or planning a trip I honestly can't recommend this place enough. It has taken 1st place on our list of favourite restaurants!

I would have Moules á la Marinière and Loup sauvage flambé au Pernod. Yum. ?

I would have Crème Brûlée for pudding though, not cheese. ?

You see I am very tempted by the moules - i love love love them. However I'm thinking that you can get moules in lots of places so maybe i should go for something else, am tempted by the Tarte fine crabe et Saint Jacques.

Totally undecided on the main though!

Starter - Gambas au gingembre et coriandre or Pain perdu de fromage de chevre (I love all cheese but am torn between that and the prawns)

Main - Filet de saumon organic au wasabi or Magret de canard sauce au cassis

dessert - I'd be going for the cheese too.

    Yum yum

The prawns do sound fab don't they - I'm hoping my H goes for these so I can steal one!

I love duck, but feel as its a specialist seafood place I should really have fish of some kind!

    Oh I can't wait!

The boy child is going to his grandparents this afternoon and staying over, so I have a whole afternoon to pamper myself and get all pretty! Also bought a new dress in a size 10 (woohoo!) though I think it might be a bit snug by the end of the evening!

Ooh for me the following are tempting me right now:

Starter - Vanilla Pod Creme Brulee

Main - Terrine au Chocolat with creme de menthe sauce

Pudding - Cheeseboard with a glass of port

Don't think that will help with any of your decisions though ?

    Starter - bouillabaisse or mussels

Main - I'd go for the lamb probably, but out of the fish I'd have the baked seabream (dorade rouge a la provencale)

    Dessert - chocolate terrine.

That's my kind of menu. After careful consideration:

Scallops, then crab, then choc terrine <dribble>

Are you sure that is the menu for tonight? I only ask as whenever I've perved at the online menu for somewhere and chosen what I want, the actual menu is always different. ?

It does sounds lovely. I'd have the crab & scallop tart, halibut fillet with champagne & hollandaise and creme brulee... although feathers choices were very funny. What time have you booked the table for and is there room for 1 more? Enjoy!

Wow, that menu is fantastic! no wonder you can't choose. I would have Scallops, Crab and either Hazelnut Merringue or Cheese with Port (I can never decide until the end of the meal whether I fancy something sweet or not)

    Enjoy (me, jealous? never....)
