What would you put in your bridal emergency kit?

Charlotte@hitched, 4 February, 2016 at 14:43 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi everyone

I'm currently compiling a guide on what to put in a 'bridal emergency kit' - this could include things such as make up wipes, deodorant, mascara, plasters etc.

If anybody wants the chance to be featured in this article then please do comment below with a brief summary of what you'd put in your own bridal emergency kit. This can be anything from a fair few smaller items to just one essential product.

Please leave your name if you want your real one to be used or alternatively I can just use your forum name. If you wish to remain anonymous then please include this in your comment.

Thanks guys!

I didn't have one as we got ready in our hotel abroad so had everything there but key things are:

    perfume

    deodrant

    make up wipes

    cotton buds for touch ups!

    Hair pins

needle and thread in bridesmaid colours and dress colour

Safety pins as a last resort!

Tissues, lipstick, safety pins, small hair brush and paracetamol. Oh, maybe party feet gel pads or possibly even flat shoes/pumps for when the heels get too much!

We didn't need deodorant as it was -37 but had mirror compact, lipstick, gel handwarmers , needle thread and safety pins. I wore comfy warm snow boots so didn't need plasters for sore feet. luckily the only thing I needed was a hand warmer after marrying in just my dress in a chapel that was -5! Oh and false nail glue was in there for any malfunction but wasn't needed.

I read about using talcum powder before you put your dress on to help stop it rubbing or getting to hot.

Most of the things I'd want have already been covered but on the day my mum will have my Bach Rescue Remedy spray, when I'm feeling shaky or stressed it seems to help.

Also personally I have to have a camera - I know I'll have a photographer and loads of people taking pictures but I really love taking pictures myself (even if some of them are blurry)

Oil blotting sheets - as someone with oily skin, these are going to be a must for me! They come in nice little packets that don't take up much room at all Smiley smile

I had most of what people have already said, we needed scissors for cutting off tags and then the groomsmen needed them for unstitching their buttonholes. I took white chalk which I heard was good for covering up any smudges on the wedding dress although I didn't use it. Also rather embarrasingly I had an iffy tummy on the morning of the wedding so had to send my bridesmaids oh to go and get me some imodium!

Ok, having been to 'just a few weddings' these are the things I think most people fall short of:

One of those little needle an thread kits you get at hotels

Mints, but not rattly ones like Tic Tacs

Lipsyl! This can be a lifesaver on both hot and cold days. I don't leave home without it in my camera bag!!!

Perhaps not a bag thing, but a bottle of water!

If you're getting married at church, then a protein bar or similar. You wont want to eat all morning, then you'll have the service. When you come out you'll be STARVING as the nerves will have gone, but all your food will be at the reception venue!

I may well think of more!

As a wedding photographer I get asked for various things, however the most consistent ones are plasters for sore feet & safety pins. As long as you have those in there you'll be fine :-)

Spare contact lenses and/or glasses! Wearing lenses, but as I don't use them much I'm sure the eyes will be itchy by the evening so I'll switch back to the specs. And spare lenses in case I drop one in the morning

I've seen this from both sides - as a bride myself five years ago and now as a wedding videographer.

Essentials I'd recommend would be painkillers, plasters, a comfortable pair of shoes you can slip on when your heels are killing you, and some snack bars (maybe if you're carrying a small bag, or one of your bridesmaids is).

It's all too easy to forget to eat in the morning, or feel sick from nerves, and there's nothing worse than 2pm rolling around and feeling like you're going to fall over from lack of food! Nakd bars are great, or a small pack of nuts (or just a regular chocolate bar!) tucked away will pull you back to the moment in no time!
