What would you wear to....

loobylou1979, 24 March, 2012 at 14:38 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

...a formal do in Miami! Dress code is cocktail dress and suit and tie for men? I'm going in April so it will be mid 20s so would like something light and breezy rather than too heavy. I'm a size 10, small ❤️❤️, 5"8.

It's an awards ceremony with work (for which i have won one) and want to look my best but with a budget of £150!

I don't have a clue, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks !

A light weight cocktail dress but consider some kind of pashmina/shawl creation as it might get a bit breezy in the evening.

I would wait and get something over there if you can. You will get more for your money and there are plenty of shops, you will also have a better idea of the temperature. I am so envious I love Miami

I've just spied this on Dotty P's website and it's reduced to £26 so well within budget! ? Looks light and floaty so could be good for the heat?

Im thinking of checking it out for Mr GB's works summer ball. They have it in grey too. And someone said they had navy in their local store too.

The dress I had wanted to wear for it doesn't fit! ☹️

Well, it's as lovely as it looks ? I've bought the navy one at full price as neither of my local stores had the lilac and silver ones. I'm going to order the lilac one online to compare but think it might make me look a little pale (i'll only have a couple of days to get a tan!).

I was having real trouble finding dresses that didn't look too weddingy, and had found a lovely grecian long dress Vee Tee but at £200 I was gutted to not get it and couldnt think of a good enough excuse to wear it again ☹️

3d, that would have been a great idea but there is already lots organised for us when we get there I don't think I would have had time. I've never been to the states before let alone Miami....we're even spending a week in New York the week before. Yay!

Now who can help accessorise me? ?

I've just ordered the grey one online! £25 seems a shame not to try it.

still wish i could wear my white one though - boohoo!

can you do a bit of false tanning before you go?

Accessory wise, i'd think the neck was too high and detailed for a necklace? or only a simple chain.

    earrings and bracelet i'd say.
