We're having lemon and rosemary roast chicken - i've just put it in to cook now. Found the recipe on the BBC Good Food website, basically involved shredding lemon rind and rosemary leaves and putting them under the skin of the chicken - which feels really really weird - then you put the peeled lemon inside the cavity, salt pepper and a bit of oil over the top then bung in oven for however long the chicken needs to cook.

We've not had it before so will be interesting to see how it turns out, should be good i hope!

Roasties and veg to go with it also.

Mmmm, I am jealous of all the proper dinners that are happening. I am having a baked potato with cheese and salad, because that's about all there is in the house and I have beer fear and can't face the shops ?

I've just put some pizza dough on to rise, so we'll be having HM pizza. My half will have mushrooms, green chilli, artichokes and sweetcorn; MrS will have some kind of meat plus veg.

I've done loads of cooking today, it's been fab. Done spanish omlette to cut into slices for my lunch, a lentil and kale soup and some pancakes. Loving all the proper winter food that's happening!

We've just eaten roast chicken, roast potatoes, yorkies, loads of veggies and gravy. There are 5 roast potatoes left over, I'll fight Mr Hole for those later instead of pudding.

I'm tempted to eat a bulb of raw garlic and a whole onion. Anything to take away the taste of the MIL's lunch earlier today.

Frigging raw oven chips, dried out chicken and 'al dente' potatoes.

yes, indeed she did. Perhaps she thought she was being all posh. But this is the woman who served up one roasted carrot between five.

The crunchy potatoes were cooked (in the loosest sense) with onions. I think she wanted them to be entirely different to the oven chips. However, since both were raw, she failed.

To say she struggles with her rayburn is an understatement.

We're having roast leg of lamb with roast potatoes, parsnips & sweet potatoes and carrots. Mr R has taken care of that and I've made an apple & pear crumble with custard for pudding.

Dinner will be grilled tuna steak with asparagus and brown rice <dull> but I do have a banana cake in the oven - I am making a couple of cakes for my friend's birthday on Saturday and have decided to make one today and freeze it and make the other one (an opera cake) on Saturday morning. I'll take the banana cake out of the freezer on Thursday night so if it turns out horribly wrong on Friday I've got time to whip up another one ?
