What you think?? Dress

catnor, 30 May, 2014 at 07:38 Posted on Planning 0 23

I have only been to one bridal shop to try on dresses and was nothing like I imagined. I didn't enjoy it at all. This was a while ago and I have not been back anywhere else since, and don't want to.

So with only 5 months to go I have picked a dress I like off internet been to see a seamstress and asked them to make it in ivory for me. My mum really doesn't like it as apparently 'it's not weddingy enough'

please what's your opinions...

It's beautiful but I will be honest it doesn't say wedding so much to me. But that's my personal opinion. I think a big factor is what type of wedding are you having? As with most things it would suit certain settings but others not so much?

It's lovely! If that's what you want then I don't see why you can't wear it! It's more 'weddingy' than some dresses I've seen! At the end of the day if it makes you happy then that's all that matters, you'll be the one wearing it!

    Go for it! X

I changed the pic to black and white to see if I could picture it in ivory better.

I think once your mum sees it in ivory it will look a lot more weddingy. It's actually very on trend for the sleek look. Quite Hollywood glamouresque. Will look gorgeous and how wonderful that it will be totally unique. Can;t wait to see the finished article Smiley smile

It's not my cup of tea but not because it's not weddingy enough..just not my style.

If you love it theres no reason you shouldn't wear it Smiley smile It's your day and you that's wearing it after all!

I think it is beautiful....once it is in Ivory, and you've got your flowers and accessories you will look every bit the bride. I'm guessing that your Mum is mainly seeing the colour and that's why she is saying it is not weddingy enough.

Go for it - a good seamstress will make it perfect for you.

    Hi catnor,

I don't often post but felt compelled to when reading this. I think that dress is stunning and in ivory it would certainly look bridal, especially once your hair and make up is done and if you have flowers.

Its beautiful and I am sure your mum will agree when she has seen the real thing in the flesh! X

I think this will look absolutely stunning in ivory. I would love something similar. If that's what you have your heart set on then go for it! Afterall it's you who will be wearing it all day, not anyone else!

I think it's beautiful! Especially if you're not having a 'big, traditional' wedding. I'd love something like that! The only thing I'd say is, have you tried similar styles, in case once you get it on, it's not what you imagined etc. But other than that I'd say go for it!

I love it, if I had the figure to pull something like that off then that's the sort of thing I'd go for.

I love it. There are no rules that say you have to have something that others perceive as 'weddingy' - you can wear jeans and a T shirt if you want!

    It's lovely!

I'd recommend trying on something similar to make sure it suits. Maybe a jenny packham?\

It's absolutely stunning and I wish I had gone for something like this rather than a traditional dress. As others have said see if you can find a similar silhouette in a bridal shop to check to see if you like the shape on you.

Please come back and flash once you have it!

I think it's gorgeous and once it's in ivory everybody will think it looks weddingy. I actually tried on something similar in a bridal shop, sleek and heavily beaded, but it didn't suit me. If that's what you want go for it. It's your day and your dress x

I think it is absolutely stunning. I'm sure your mum imagines you in a big white traditional dress, but if it's not you, it's not you.

I think it's plenty wedding-y enough! As someone else said, this sort of look is quite in at the minute. Would never suit me or my wedding (I'm too short, the wedding is very laid-back and garden-partyish), but I think it's gorgeous!

    xoxo

I think it's really lovely! I suppose it's not wedding-y enough, because it is not your typical wedding dress! If you love it, then go for it!!!!! Smiley smile Smiley smile

Another plus vote here. It's glam, striking and when made in ivory you'll be unmistakably bridal. Gorgeous!
