Whatever happened to the....

memedoaky, 8 June, 2008 at 15:44 Posted on Planning 0 19

Days when posts moved so quickly it was almost impossible to keep up with them?

I remember this time last year you would read through the titles and see a few that would catch your eye, open one read it, reply then come back to page 1 of the topics and the other you had noticed had moved to page 2 etc!

I was just reminicing about the good old days!

Its defo not the same - when did you ever see a post on the front page for hours on end with only 3 replies?! Just didn't happen.

Shame really, specially for those B2B recently joining ....

You're right, it was loads busier when I first joined. Sometimes if it's really quiet I end up not posting so much as I end up the most recent poster on about 10 different threads and it looks a bit odd!

I think a lot of the regulars are sadly less regular than they were...

I know Mrs SP! When I first joined in 2006 I was recommended here by my sis (her wedding was Sept 2006) mainly for the BT topics as I was pregnant with my son then.

Then I never really came on here after having him until January last year when we booked our wedding (Sept this year) I got some great ideas and tips from it but now as my big day gets closer on here seems to be getting quieter and quieter!

It always goes through slow phases, lots of people are on Honeymoon, holidays etc and most of the Summer Wedding Planning is done now. It will pick up again soon.

It has been like this for a while.

But it is silly season after all which won't help!

Seems to have been quiet on here since the new format was launched. Wonder if a lot of people don't like it and have gone elsewhere?

Ive noticed it being a bit quiet round here lately as well. Thought it was just me imagining things.

I agree with Sherrie. There are always quiet times - the wedding session and the hot weather is not helping at the moment.

It went quiet before the change. I've said this before (on one of the many other threads on this topic) and I'll say it again. We're not getting much 'new blood' and those of us who are here have asked most of the questions we want to ask. Add to that the repetitive nature of threads by the occasional new member and you find those of us who've been here a while and have already discussed our colour scheme/first dance song/readings/etc. are less likely to post on similar threads. I know I don't bother with posts on the above anymore as there's only so many times you can say the same thing without getting bored!

    WSS.

I would love to spend more time chatting/posting on here though - I do miss it. I find myself reading through new posts, but not really having time to reply properly.

Is that not really contradictory? Surely new people are always going to ask the same questions as you did when you first joined. You can't expect 'new blood' not to ask the same questions that you did when you joined. Isn't this is the whole point of the 'wedding planning' forum?

Hopefully it'll pick up again after the summer lull. Maybe the sunny weather will get some men (or women) popping the question!!

Either that or myself and the others who aren't getting married this year will just all sit here staring at the screen waiting the arrival of a new thread!! hehe

Since I joined it seems to have brief spells of busy times and then a lull. Seemingly the winter is busier because no one wants to go out!!

WSS, people won't join up and post on the boards if people aren't going to bother to reply just because they've replied to a similar thread previously and on WP the same questions are going to pop up over and over again.

I've lost count of the amount of times I have answered the same posts over the last 4yrs!

The whole point of the forum is to give advice and help when asked,to share experiences, tips etc. Contrary to poular belief not all HIB's are here to tout their wares!

I tend to lurk more atm. Now I've got my wedding more of less planned I don't need to look at thread on colour schemes etc so there are less threads that catch my eye! Weather means I'm outside most evenings and weekends and I've actually got stuff to do at work at the mo too (shock horror!!). In my bord moments though, I've found myself lurking on baby talk ? scary!!
