What's been your favourite bit???...

MrsFoster2b, 9 January, 2011 at 10:24 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hellooo!

If you could only pick only 1 element of the whole wedding planning process as your favourite what would it be?? Finding the venue? Dress? Picking rings? Making favours/invites etc etc... spill the beans for the best bits I have to look forward to!....

Mrs Foster the best bits for me so far have been sourcing all our table decorations as we are having a festive wedding in december we managed to get all our decorations in the sale!!! we have saved a fortune! this is closely followed by choosing the buttons for my button bouquet and button buttonholes, I love them all!

    Good luck with your planning!

My favourite bit was without a doubt right at the beginning when I was searching for ideas/ themes etc. Not being constrained by anything meant that anything was a possibility.

Having said that I do love it at the moment, pretty much everything is sorted and I am now just waiting for the day to get here. Yes i feel sick when i think about it and yes the little things that havent been done are freaking me out but I am just so excited about the day I dont care!

My favourite bit was finding our reception venue. H2B and I both sat down and just looked at each other before we'd even opened our mouth to chat to the lady. i just knew we were going to choose that place, it was exactly the right vibe. I did absolutely love the dress picking but it's not my totally favourite bit as OH wasn't there. Still.....trying on my altered dress for the first time was amazing!!

I think the favourite bit has been buying little things to put into my OH's "open on the morning of the wedding" box. I cant wait for her to open it and see all the goodies ?

Hmmm thats a tough question but the best bit for me was finding my wedding ring, because I have an 1930's e-ring I wanted to find a w-ring that looked perfect with it. My e-ring is also shaped so I cannot go for the usual round band. So, with a double mission ahead of us we started to hunt around but could not find anything that wasn't modern looking, we decided we would have to get one made for me. Last year we went to New York for a holiday and had a look in some of the jewellery shops (as you do!!). It was there that I saw an original curved art deco wedding band, it had been sold but the lady in the shop told me to try it and would you believe it, it fitted perfect with my e-ring and looked like they were made for each other. The lady had a word with the jeweller and he said he could take a mould of the original ring and then make an identical ring for me! I was so thrilled and 2 months later it arrived from the states and I am so pleased. If ever you get the chance to go to New York I would recommend their independant jewellers, they are fantastic ?

I have a long way to go with planning but I don't think anything will top the feeling when we walked into our venue for the frist time and fell in love with it. I am just excited now about choosing colours and styles to decorate it.

For me the day OH proposed was actually my favourite bit! Everything was new and exciting, plus it was my birthday! It was lovely going round to see mine and his family and telling them the news. I bought a bridal magazine and it was lovely to look through it thinking that we could have any day we wanted.

Not that I haven't enjoyed the actual planning, but from the moment OH picked his shirt (which is a quite specific shade of green) everything became a bit more fixed and the possibilities didn't seem so endless anymore.

Oh now there's a difficult one. I've enjoyed loads of it so far, but for different reasons. I guess if I had to pick just one it would be finding the venue. We'd only just got engaged, OH was really into it, and it really was something we did together. Just really good memories of those few days.

Finding the venue is definitely my favourite moment so far! We had been looking at venues on a budget when we went to one that we *thought* would be out of our price range by a long way as it is much more up market than the others. We fell in love instantly & OH booked it straight away as they only had the 1 summer saturday left for next year. It was only when we started doing the number crunching at home properly later that we realised that because our venue includes so many things FOC that actually it works out no more expensive than the other venues we looked at & it is just so beautiful ?

For me it has been decided on all the little finishing touches and my quirky little bits to make the day very much our own. I really don't know what I'm gonna do with myself when this is all over.. Gonna have to book a nice holiday for next year I think.
