What's everyone doing the nigfht before the wedding...

GeordieBarbie, 30 November, 2009 at 14:41 Posted on Planning 0 25

As you know, I'm getting married in a different town to where I live or our family and friends live.

As it happens, his Dad lives there now so D will be spending the night at his Dad's and I'll be in a hotel.

Since the majority of my family and friends will be in the same hotel as me, I'm wondering what to do the night before? I'll need to eat myself so maybe arrange for everyone to join me?

We're not getting married until 4.00pm so will be able to have a good breakfast - hopefully late in the morning. I'm also planning to buy sandwiches the day before to eat while getting ready as this is something we didn't think about when my mate got married last year so from being up at 6.30am - we didn't eat until about 4.00pm and had only had a G&T and some champagne by that time!!

As I (and family) are making the flower arrangements myself i think i will be surrounded by roses and lillies and frantically trying to make 100+ buttonholes ?

I am hoping to sleep at my nan's, and go from there to the church.

If I was you I'd just have a nice meal with family and friends and relax.

I'm staying at my mum and dad's and having my immediate family plus the best men and ushers over for a BBQ - weather permitting!

Then, my OH and the two best men will go back to our flat where they are staying and everyone else can go back to their own homes whilst I chill out in the bath with a glass of bubbly!

wow you are one brave lady! i would have loved to have done my own flowers, i did a course on it and everyfing. can you try and make some the day before? i'd offer to help out if i could! (with the buttonholes, not the other big things, mind...!)

i stayed at my parents, went for a meal, got a bit tipsy, stayed up and watched some of the wedding crashers, and did my nails. maybe i should have done my nails before getting tipsy?

Our wedding is away from where any family or friends live - we are going to arrange to meet in a pub for some drinks and food with anyone who is staying over the night before and wants to come.

Well a family friend works at the flower market so can order in the flowers for cheap. my aunt got married in june and made all her flowers and I never knew until she told me. I am having my bouquet made by the florist, but BM will have posies of roses and the table flowers will be an oasis in huge cocktail vase which we will be making ourselves. There's 5 of us altogether so heopefully it will be ok. But.... if your close to the Midlands I'm sure an extra pair of hands would come in very useful!

We hired an area in our local bar so the families could meet, and had some drinks and nibbles. OH went and stayed in our flat and myself, my CBM and gusher went to our hotel and had a slumber party before all getting ready together the next morning...

....oh and the thing about eating, eat lots and eat early, we entered a timewarp and didn't end up having anything from breakfast until we sat down at 3:45... but had lots of champagne...whoopsy!

Yeah - i'm hoping to have my fried breakfast as late as possible (hopefully the hotel serves brekkie till 11.00am ish).

We're not seeing eachother on the Friday so Friday night will be my lot and some friends. He's planning drinks with his Dad, and maybe a couple of groomsmen...

D actually wants to avoid seeing me from the Thursday! He was planning his journey to Bristol and I pointed out that he'd be taking me too and the look of horror on his face ? Apparently, the longer we avoid eachother before the wedding, the more special it'll be when he sees me on our wedding day... ?

We are getting married in a hotel - so i'm staying there, as well as mu OH and all our friends and family. We have decided to have a big BBQ so as everyone arrives they can join in and the party can start. We are all staying over on the wedding day and into the day after - so its like having a house party over the weekend. We are very lucky we have the whole hotel to ourselves so the staff will do whatever we want, which makes it easier.

I will be staying at my mums the night before and seeing as she wont be at my hen weekend (she says shes too old and would feel out of place as there are 10 of us going) i have suggested that we (and my two sisters) go out for dinner the night before and have a girlie night, im sure there will be a few last minute things to sort out which can be done during the day, but iam planning on having a nice relaxing evening.........................lol like that will happen!!!!! x

I'm staying at my parents with my Chief BM, we'll probably have nibbles and a few glasses of wine as I think some of my aunties and a couple of friends will join us too. This does worry me a bit as we can get very carried away when we're all a bit excited and the last thing I want is to be hungover on our wedding day! Will just have to be as sensible as possible! (unlikely) ?

My OH and our 2 boys are staying at home and me, my MOH and BM are all staying at the hotel the night before having a girlie night were going to go for a meal (or have one at the hotel not too sure yet??) and just make sure finishing touches are done etc!

I would say have a nice meal with your family and friends and have a little bit of time with them as you will be too busy to do any proper catching up on the day as you will have everyone wanting to congratulate you etc go on spoil yourself!

He'll probably get drunk, I fancy a few drinks then a VERY VERY LONG bath with a bottle of wine and some Relaxing Music. As i dont want to be really stressed or tired on the day! xx

9 members of my family arrive from Canada the day before so we'll be making sure they're all set up where they're supposed to be! Then we'll have an early dinner with them and once we've eaten h2b will go back to ours to spend the evening with his BM and ushers. I will go back to mum and dad's and spend the evening alone with them. I couldn't even contemplate spending the night before anywhere else.

We get married quite early so it'll be an early start. I don't want a big breakfast so i'll probably send my dad out for croissants and pastries. Otherwise my mum will end up in the kitchen making toast for everyone and I want her to completely relax on the morning to, not be running around after us lot!

30 of us will be arriving at the hall which we have booked for a week on the Monday. The wedding will be on the Tuesday. the plan at the moment is that we all arrive, settle in etc, etc then have a meal together and then afterwards all the men go up to the games room and have a few drinks, play pool and stuff, while all the girls have the leisure suite where there is a sauna, steam room and hot tub and have a bit of pampering, maybe do our nails etc, with a few cocktails.

    Should be fun!!!

I'm having a very small wedding so on the 15th of December- eeek! Me and most of the guests are off to the local panto. We'll have a few drinks/dinner after and then home. At home there will be my parents, OH and my brother. I am giving my thank you gifts then, I am going for a Christmas Eve vibe. My favourite gift is for my brother- he is a witness and I have gotten him a 'Witness Relocation Programme' t-shirt!!!! I always have new pjs for the 'eve' of any big event so am searching for the perfect pair at the moment. All in all cosy, intimate and shared with the people I love

I'm staying over @ my mum's house with my sister, & 2 cousins who are my BM's. I think we will either get a takeaway & have a few drinks or maybe go to the local pub for a few drinks.

We are getting married in a hotel & me & the girls were going to aty there the night before but my dad really want me to leave from his & my mum's house so we are all staying there instead.

I am staying at the castle where we are getting married with my BM's, MOH and family. Think we are all going to have a meal together in the restaurant along with a few drinkies and generally get even more excited about the impending nuptials!! Not drinking too much tho...want to have quite an early and relaxing night.

Also, one of my BM's will have arrived from California and I wont have seen her for over 2 years so will be lovely to spend the night catching up with her

Even thinking about that night makes me get excited!!
