what's for tea?

kierenthecommunity, 26 July, 2009 at 17:51 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 28

The nostalgia thread reminded me, we used to have one of these a day. and i used to get dead jealous of what everyone else was having!

we're having rose veal from the farmers market. it better be nice as it wasn't cheap. i'm just looking for recipes, so if anyone has a suggestion, shout up. i may do it in butter and paprika

i'm going to serve it with mash and sugar snap peas i think

yourself?

I wanted fish & chips. The new chippy finally opened Friday..... But evidently it doesn't open Sundays. ☹️

A big, dirty kebab is now favourite but I need a few lagers on board first (it is imposible to eat kebabs sober).

Come tomorrow I shall be going back on big protein, limited carbs for a while...... And abusing my mate's training suite.

We had chicken breasts wrapped in bacon and stuffed with, well, stuffing ?, with roast pots and veggies.

None of us were very hungry though so it was a bit of a waste and disappointment. I hate it when that happens.

Not sure - loml is dreadfully hungover struck down by a mysterious tropical disease, so I am not sure if he'll want any dinner - if he doesn't I expect I'll just have tuna salad.

Had Jamie Oliver's fish pie with spinach, carrots and brocolli at about 4.00. Was yum. Have dutty hotdogs in fridge if I get hungry later. More yum.

Nothing exciting/inspired here. Think it's going to be chicken in black bean sauce with egg fried rice. Although as H went for a lie down 2 hours ago and is currently sparko I've fed the munchkin separately with his favourite, pasta & pesto!

Lamb chops that had sat in a marinade all day of garlic, honey, chili flakes and crushed sesame seeds cooked on the BBQ, with a potato salad with fresh dill. Pudding if I fancy it, will be set yoghurt, a spoonful of local honey and some raspberries.

In fact, I had the yoghurt combo for breakfast and it was positively gorgeous!

I have made hamburgers stuffed with mozarella. We will eat them with salsa H has made and (bought) burger baps. I think I might start cooking now actually as this thread all of a sudden made me starving!

Despite spending £90 in Tesco yesterday I've realised we don't actually have a complete dinner [:'(] We didn't buy any meat, we did buy loads of mushrooms but no wine or cream so my risotto is out, no herbs, no onions, no bread - actually I'm beginning to wonder what we bought other than ice cream, ice lollies, a watermelon, cat food and kitchen roll ?

Freezer is stuffed full of meat but it's too late to defrost anything - no idea why we've been so disorganised this weekend. Am thinking it's going to be a plate of mushrooms or a pizza...

I have been at my parents and had fillet steak with roasted carrots, butternut squash, parsnips, red onion and a few potatos. My dad rubs the steak with a bit of olive oil and sprinkles a beef oxo cube onto them, its heaven!

Well, because i knew you were all waiting with baited breath, i thought i'd update on the rose veal ?

it was very nice indeed. like a cross between steak and lamb (it doesn't have a lamby taste but the texture is similar.) whether is was the thick end of a tenner nice is debatable, but the stall at the farmers market wasn't a cheap one, it's one of these specialist organic ones. so i'll look out for it elsewhere (anyone ever seen it in M&S? they're supposed to sell it but i've never seen it)

i just pan fried it with some red onion, butter and paprika in the end

Pancakes with sugar and lemon. It's all my poor swine-flu belly could stomach. (well, it's all it could face out of the options I was given by MrQ)

KTC - the veal sounds lovely.

We had chips, gravy and broccoli. We we're going to have pork, mash, broccoli and gravy, but the pork looked like it was at the bottom of the freezer a bit too long, so we decided against that, and then i couldn't be bothered with the mash, so oven chips came out! hey ho, was yum! x
