What's on your menu?

ClaireMcToBe, 21 November, 2011 at 16:46 Posted on Planning 0 38

Just interested what everybody else is serving up!

We're having tomato and basil soup, followed by roast aberdeen angus beef and yorkshire pudding, homemade belgian chocolate mousse with a pear fan. Then tea and coffee with mints and I really want to try making my own truffles to serve too!

Anyone else?

We're thinking deep fried brie for starter, full roast beef dinner with all the trimmings, and then chocolate torte for pud. Everyone's having the same, with the children just having half portions of what we're having.

Then beef & pork carvery sandwiches in teacakes with wedges for our evening reception. x

We decided to do the food we love the most so:

    Tomato Soup or Onion Bhajis

Fish and Chips or Chicken Tikka and Rice

    Chocolate Profiteroles or Strawberry Triffle

For the evening food we are having Bacon Butties or Chip Butties and our wedding cake for pudding.

I am actually extremely excited about seeing everyone's face when they see our menu hehe!

Yum indeed! We're having a selection of antipasti, pan fried sea bass on crushed new potatoes with samphire, broad beans and a citrus dressing followed by raspberry tart. Bacon butties in the evening. A few family members have informed me they "don't like fish." What a shame - it's our wedding and we love fish!

We've not long decided on ours actually!

Havn't sorted the veggie option yet though.

Starter is anti pasti, so things like mozerella balls in pesto, parma ham and different salami etc, different breads and oils with olives and figs artichokes and sundried tomatoes etc. They'll be two sharing platters per table so people can interact with each other (hopefully)!

Main is fillet steak with celeriac and potato dauphinoise with seasonal veg and a red wine jus.

Dessert is a trio of mini puddings, Creme brulee topped with passionfruit, White chocolate pot and mango and passionfruit tartlet.

    Then coffee and mints.

We want to do a hog roast for our evening guests as there is so many of them (250) and its cost effective.

Was undecided about just doing pork rolls or adding some salads with it aswell for the veggies?

It's really difficult as we are in a marquee and only really have enough seating for day time guests. We are adding some posuer tables and stools in the bar area but it's not enough for everyone.I know not everyone will sit down at the same time but if they have just a pork roll in a napkin they could stand but if we introduce salads with plates then people will need to sit???

    Any ideas?

The meat isn't a problem as my dads a butcher so any other options are welcome?

We haven't decided yet but wanted to go for what is more 'us' rather than a posh meal that is a bit out of character (much as I love pretending to be posh, we are not lol)

So thinking of having pate or soup to start

Bangers and mash for main 9our caterer suggested doing a trio of sausages such as venison, pork and apple etc

and prob trifle and profiteroles for dessert

Then we'll do bacon butties for the evening I would have thought yum yum!

At the moment its leek&potato soup, roast lamb & chocolate fudge cake. But we decided that they're all too rich, so we're gonna change the lamb to beef and the chocolate fudge cake to profiteroles.

As a veggie what would you be pleased to see at an evening reception?

If all the meat eaters had pork rolls?

    Maybe veggie burgers?

Would be great to get some ideas?
