What's the deadline for choosing a wedding dress?

Athena7, 26 February, 2009 at 22:32 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hello ladies,

I'm getting married in September this year and I haven't chosen my wedding dress yet.

My last wedding salon appointment is at the end of March - do you think it is too late to make my mind up at the end of March? That will leave me just over 5 months to play with.

Please help! In every salon I've been to they all said I needed at least 6 months .... is this just a sale trick or is this true? What are your experiences?

I ordered mine Wednesday last week, and that was the last day for end of May delivery, if that helps.

They normally say allow 6 months! it can take months to get the dress in from busy designers and then you need time for alterations etc

Hi, I'm getting married in September and still havent found my dress....

It seems to vary between who you are wanting to order from...some have said to me they can do rush orders with as little as 8 weeks to go, but you obviously have to pay for the service. I'm hoping to have mine sorted by easter, but I'm also considering a few from the high street too, thats why I'm delaying! x

I'm also in September. I ordered mine last week and it will be in at the end of June. I've been told I need to have my first fitting 8 weeks before the wedding, which will be around the same time the dress comes in so as you can see that doesn;t give me much margin for error (delay). I've been told they can do them quicker, but obviously this comes at a price. So long and short of it is, you give yourself much more choice if you could get one by end March (pref. before), it's still possible after that, but a bit more difficult.
